LIKE OUR FATHER
Ephesians 6:10 (Message)
And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong.
I have not read that verse this way, " . . .God is strong and He wants you strong." It came to me yesterday. Let us look at other translations of that verse:
Ephesians 6:10 (KJV)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Ephesians 6:10 (NLT)
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
While I was meditating on this verse I was led to a reference, which I will call it's origin:
Genesis 1:27
So God created human beings in his own image.
In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:27 (message)
God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God's nature. He created them male and female.
Are these just a play around words? No, Christ emphasized it, listen:
Matthew 5:45
In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.
We are made in God's image and the goal is to be like Him.
Remember that man God created was good, however his disobedience or do I say sin, brought about death, man thus needed redemption.
I have always emphasized man's special case, for God could have ended man's linage and created another form but NO, he did not, for He loved man.
Psalms 8:4
what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?
John 3:16
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
The reason for the love we may not be able to explain, but He does.
Now, I will not go into this, however, understand that His love is for "man" as a whole, every human who is born into this world falls under the category of man. Now this is tricky, when we say man it means all, everyone, so that the fact that some may not get saved does not mean that man is not saved, it is one out of many. However, all are important to Him but because of the power of His nature in us, He has given us free will, He wants you to be saved, but if you resist, you have it your way that does not mean He doesn't love you, but that you chose not to accept His salvation. Selah
So we are to be like the Heavenly Father, this is in nature, power and authority.
Before He brought earth to have it's form the Heavenly Father dominated. When He carved out small earth, we were to dominate it as an extended colony:
Genesis 1:28
Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.”
Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
So the message today is that you should be like Your Father in all things. In character and in dominion. Do not let the enemy tell you less. Get up from that slumber, from that bondage of sin and fear, grasp what the Lord has done for you.
See forget what people are saying, don't get intimidated by their mockery, remember that all that have achieved may have seemed foolish when they started but eventually they become the envy of those who mocked them.
So focus on whom You are like, the one we hope to be with through eternity:
Hebrews 12:2
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Be like Your Heavenly Father.
So help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
