Yield not to Temptations

James 1:3

Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

Temptation itself is not sin, everyone gets tempted one time and/or the other.

Temptation comes in different forms and from various sources. It could be what you do or don't do.

* Thoughts

* What we see

* A raising appetite

* An emotion/desire/lust

* Anger

* Pride/Ego

* Fear

* Doubt

* Riches

* Idleness

* Wrong company

* Covetousness

* Ignoring Red Flags

The sources are many.

Just like a pit, the problem is falling into it. It may be by ignorance, lack of self control or just mere carelessness. You could just cross over it or go around but not falling it. However, for you not to fall into it, you need a foreknowledge of it. Selah

The consequences are there, every error has its consequence and if you have studied the scriptures, you will understand that they are of different degrees. Thus every instruction and guidance of God is for our benefit.

So, what do we do?

James 1:13-15

Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man

 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

James 4:7

So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

We must watch for its approaching sign and then avoid it.

How?

Matthew 26:41

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.

WATCH and PRAY!

We must know when it is temptation, it is easier to destroy the larva than to kill the grown snake.

First it is conceived then the thoughts come, when you give it room, it develops/grows and then produces sin, then sin would lead to death.

Oh how many glorious things we have missed because of sin.

Isaiah 59:2

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid [his] face from you, that he will not hear.

A mature christian is one who knows when temptation comes knocking and doesn't fall into it.

As we end this year the Lord will keep us from falling into temptations.

No wonder when teaching His disciples to pray, He said:

Matthew 6:13

And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

And so shall it be, we will not fall into temptations, we will be delivered from evil.

So help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
