STILL ON TEMPTATION
1Corinthians 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
We remind ourselves again that temptation itself is not sin, everyone gets tempted one time and/or the other. Yes, however temptation can come to us "or from us".
A good analogy is - "we may not be able to stop the bird from flying over head. However, we must never allow the bird build it's nest on our head".
So we do not seek that which will put us in the position of temptation neither do we probe into things that place us in the path of temptation.
Temptation comes from us most times when we let ourselves loose to the vices of the enemy or we let loose/ or give way to the three elements of the carnal world:
1John 2:16
For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
* Lust of the flesh
* Lust of the eyes
* Pride of Life
Scriptures teaches that we of our own accord can pierce ourselves with sorrow:
1Timothy 6 : 9 - 10
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrow
Other ways include:
* desire to rule others
* covetousness
* idleness
* envy
* prayer-lessness
* indiscipline/unruliness
* vain competitions
* always wanting to take advantage
the list goes on.
In the verge of appearing good or better than someone else we begin to count faults and before we know it evil crops into our hearts.
James 1:14
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
That was the same way the first temptation to man(woman) came.
Genesis 3:6
And when the woman saw that the tree [was] good for food, and that it [was] pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make [one] wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Yes, we must watch for it's approaching sign and then avoid it.
Our thoughts must be well guarded, we have been given a pure heart when we came to Christ we must not contaminate it.
*In all even if we fall, we dust up and arise again. We do not sit muddled up with the swine.*
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
Proverbs 24:16a
For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth up again:
Are you still battling with a mistake or the consequence of a temptation you fell into, is it so big? Arise dust yourself, seek the Father HE IS MERCIFUL.
Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
And when you have obtained this mercy don't go about seeking faults from others, NO, let God's love then flow through you. Shalom.
Also do not be the reason for another to stumble:
Luke 17:1-2
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting!
It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin.
For it is a great tragedy to be the reason why another falls into temptations. Listen, never think for a moment that those evil ones who go free, NO, you cannot imagine what is waiting to befall them.
Remember that impatience is one key factor that makes people fall into temptations, for most of what you desire you already have and that which you are expecting may be delayed - the catch is "don't fall for the evil alternative. Selah
So help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
