ARE WE GROWING?
Genesis 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:
The need to grow is built into everyone, that is how God made us. He instructed us to grow. Every living thing He created, was authorized to grow including plants and animals alike.
To grow we ought to have the picture of what our grown stature should be like, many have not gone ahead because they are yet to see the goal.
2 Corinthians 3:18
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
The question is "Are we growing"?
The growth should be in body, mind, intellect, finance, ministry, character, maturity, education, career, the list goes on.
However, the most important is character, for according to one of our fathers who has gone ahead of us: "you could work hard to achieve a success but the wrong character can bring you down(paraphrased)"
2Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.
See, growth takes place whether we are conscious of it or not, this is restricted to physical growth. However for meaningful and more appreciative growth we must do so consciously. One great part of us that needs to grow positively is our character:
2 Peter 1:5-8
In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge,
and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is the recognized christian growth for all believers, for what is the need of physical growth if you do not have it with self control?
Hello, God is interested in it and it decides your reward, listen:
2 Peter 1:9-11
But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.
Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
As we go closer to the end of the year there is a need for us to confirm that we are willing to grow, God will always help when we do His will.
How do we know that we are growing?
* How is my relationship with God this year compared to previous year?
* Do I lead my family in prayer, is my family alter strong?
* What is my financial status, am I in debt?
* Who and what have I invested in? Do I have living proof that I have invested or is it only my bank account that reflects thus?
* What are my habits and daily routines, have they improved?
* Have I built integrity and efficiency, can I be relied on to get the work done?
* What is the report I have at home, school, work, church or in the media (most likely social media)?
God wants us all to grow that is why He even instructed us to. However our body grows naturally as we eat, the same way the mental and spiritual part of us would only grow to the extent we feed them.
2Corinthians 9:8
And God [is] able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all [things], may abound to every good work:
So friends, GROW.
This will be a great and healing week for you.
So help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
