STAYING IN GOD'S ATMOSPHERE
Genesis 3:8
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
There are times when we wonder if God was really there, if He is in charge of the situation. The truth is that we take our eyes off Him to focus on the situation. Hello believer, nothing should be strong enough to take our eyes off Him.
I have been asked time and again if God knows everything, and if He does, why does he allow somethings to happen to man?
The answer to this question is answered if we understand who man really is, do we know who God really created.
Genesis 1:26-28
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
God did not make a puppet or an angel, God made a replica of Himself, a person who had a will of his own but limited in life, not immortal.
See how David described man:
Psalms 8:4-6 (ERV)
And I wonder, "Why are people so important to you? Why do you even think about them? Why do you care so much about humans? Why do you even notice them?"
But you made them almost like gods and crowned them with glory and honor.
You put them in charge of everything you made. You put everything under their control.
Man whom God made, was significant, we were created to extend God’s kingdom to the earth. Just like governors sent from a colony to oversee an extension of that colony.
The enemy wasn’t happy about this, He desired man to fall, to fail!
Romans 5:18-19
Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.
Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.
So what happened to man, because he fell for the trick/lie of the enemy, he could not enjoy the atmosphere of God’s presence. He actually ran away from God’s voice, he went to hide.
The enemy would have said, “Yes, let me see who is it that would want to rival my authority here on earth, I own this place, I rule here.”
This is why when the second Adam came, Jesus the Son of God, the enemy also went to test him. To prove that as far as you are in human flesh, you must succumb to his authority. Glory to God it was not so, Jesus put Him in his place.
Matthew 4: 10 – 11
Jesus said to him, "Get away from me, Satan! The Scriptures say, 'You must worship the Lord your God. Serve only him!'"
So the devil left him. Then some angels came to Jesus and helped him.
Thus we have victory today, Adam failed to dwell in God’s presence making us to fall. Jesus gave us victory and then required of us to stand. The same way Adam had to decide to stay in God’s atmosphere we too have to decide to stay in God’s presence.
God wasn’t bothering Adam neither his wife, they had a free hand to do all they needed to do, of course God did not create a robot and not even an angel he made man, who had a will of his own.
Genesis 3:8
During the cool part of the day, the LORD God was walking in the garden. The man and the woman heard him, and they hid among the trees in the garden.
God was not bothering man, He did not ask too much of Him as long as man was living in obedience He had nothing to worry about.
God expected man to
* be productive;
* be about His business;
* take care of his home
* rest
and of course to
* spend time in his presence.
So that man who just mops around doing nothing all in the name of waiting for the return of the Lord, living off other people’s hard work and earnings, definitely is not of God’s will.
That one that practices idling away in a place of worship day after day, not making himself/herself useful is definitely not in God’s will.
Ephesians 4:28
The thief must no longer steal but must work hard and do what is good with his own hands, so that he might have something to give to the needy.
Acts 20: 34 - 35 (This was Paul talking – warning to the lazy pastors & ministers - hello those who is pastoring as a secular job should repent. Don't fall for this lie!)
You yourselves know that I worked with my own hands to support myself and those who were with me.
In every way I showed you that by working hard like this we should help the weak and remember the words that the Lord Jesus himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
That which will always be in God’s presence is our spirit man, connected to the source of life, uplifting our body which is the machine that gives us legal stay here on earth.
Therefore let us not get it wrong, our useful work here on earth does not cancel out the continual atmosphere of God’s presence, at the cool of the day He will commune with us and will not find us disconnected.
May we always remain in His atmosphere.
This day is blessed for us.
He calls us blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
