NOT INTO TEMPTATION

Matthew 6:13

"And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one for Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

How exactly do we fall into temptation. James explained this to us:

James 1:14

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

That is what Jesus prayed about, He knew that as long as we are in this world temptations abound and since we have the power of choice, there is the probability to choose wrong.

So Jesus then prayed for us that God would not allow us fall into temptation.

John 17:15

"I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one

Truly God will speak through His Spirit, yet the final decision is ours, remember He made us in His image, we have the power to choose.

Look at these verses:

Joshua 24:15

"And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Proverbs 1:29

Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD,

Proverbs 12:26

The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.

He knew that the evil one was going about through his demons and "wannabes" dropping evil suggestions here and there.

That is why it is a pity if we think the devil is omnipotent, no he is not, he can only be in one place at a time but he has his agents everywhere dedicated and working.

1Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour

Most times when Jesus cast out demons, Satan wasn't there those demons were authorities on their own, having different degree of powers. However they have allegiance to Satan.

So what happens most of the time is that these spirits whisper sweet nothings and evil suggestions into our ears.

And if we are not conscious in the spirit we fall prey.

Now if they whisper and we don't listen they could speak to us by whispering to someone else, who then comes to suggest things to us.

That is, they could decide to speak through another person who also has listened to their lies.

So therefore the bible says we should be sober, watchful and vigilant. We cannot afford to be carried away by strong drink, drugs, sentiments or emotions.

At this weak points we become vulnerable and temptation become lethal.

Ephesians 5:18

And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,

1Corinthians 6:10

nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

We cannot be careless, the damage a single carelessness could cause can take a life-time to amend if it is amendable.

Furthermore after conversion we still carry a body which still desires the things of the flesh, we need to train this body to submit to our spirit which has been regenerated at conversion, continually fed with the word of God, prayers, worship and spiritual things.

It is to the flesh the enemy appeals!

Galatians 5:24

And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

May God's mercy come afresh and abound in us.

May we not fall into temptation.

May we be steadfast in prayer and study of the Word.

When the enemies tries to penetrate our heart, may there be no space for Him. We would be occupied with the Word of God, conversations with God and filled with good thoughts.

We are victorious, we have conquered.

[Are you yet to be saved, please what are you waiting for, come to Christ now! No other canopy can cover you.]

Galatians 5:16

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
