LET YOUR TRUST BE IN THE LORD
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
It is so easy to allow oneself to get pursuaded to live the life of the simple/fool, for the book of Psalms categorized those who did not believe in God as fools. However, we must understand that our believe in God is nothing if we do not live up to it:
James 2:19-20
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.
How foolish! Can’t you see that faith without good deeds is useless?
Truly these are times when it doesn't look in vogue to be godly.
One can merely talk about God but to live the life is something else.
Of course we know that talk is cheap.
So we have some of us who identify ourselves as Christians but our likeness to Christ remains a mirage, of this category the word of God says
2Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Yet still the prove of our trust in God is not when all seems to be well but when we face challenges, difficulties or seem not to have what we need. Sometimes we call it our test, other times temptations for it could be that everything is going so well, we believe we can let down our guard and live any how. This is not wisdom.
Our trust is shown in our patience, ability to listen (knowledge), making right choices, then our ability to show love to others even when it seems we have not received what we desired.
2Peter 1:5-8
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make [you that ye shall] neither [be] barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If believers are not careful these last days, they will awake to discover that their trust is no longer in God, but in:
* religion;
* sacraments;
* money;
* fame;
* clergy/pastor/prophet;
* influential people;
* relations;
* self
etc.
Jeremiah 17:5
This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
We really need to ascertain where our trust lies.
Psalm 37:5
Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
Psalm 34:8
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
May our desire for fast solutions not get the better of us. May our trust continually be in the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:7
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
For what really do we know? How far can we see? However, the Lord knows the end before the beginning, why would we not put our trust in Him?
We will trust in You Lord.
He calls us blessed.
