THE LIFE OF THE BELIEVER 3

Colossians 3:1-3

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.

Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.

For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.

We have seen who Christ is, we have seen what He has done for us and who he has made us to be. Finally we know what He wants us to do.

The question is what next, how are we to live our lives daily?

In the nature of Him who saved us.

When a pauper is brought into royalty or a slave is given liberty and given rights as a son, there are things they must let go off.

They must drop the filthy and foul things and take up the royal character and nature, they don't hold on to those old, dirty and infected clothes, they burn them to take on the new, clean royal robes permanently.

Colossians 3:4-5,7-9

And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.

So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

You used to do these things when your life was still part of this world.

But now is the time to get rid of anger, rage, malicious behavior, slander, and dirty language.

Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.

That is the real liberty, for the wicked deeds and nature is a symptom of sin and death. Which is what the Heavenly Father will destroy - remember Sodom and Gomorrah!

Colossians 3:6

Because of these sins, the anger of God is coming.

So we must put all those nature to death, not one, two, three but ALL. For we see some who claim not to do one, are very quick to point at another, but when you look closely you see that they are guilty of even a worse character. Purge yourself!

We are to put on our new nature and learn about the Heavenly Father:

Colossians 3:10

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

So that we can be like Him, Just as Jesus taught . . . like your Heavenly Father.

Help us Good Lord.

Hello, let us not forget, where we are from, our background, language or skin colour does not matter, all are the same human with flesh and blood that the Father created, and the same salvation and condemnation is for all, no respecter of persons:

Colossians 3:11

In this new life, it doesn’t matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us.

So our new nature should be:

Colossians 3:12-15

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.

That is our nature, (read through it again), that is our personality, let us get used to it, say it, think it, be it. Enough of all these noise of pollution, we are clean. Thank You Dear Lord.

As individuals in Christ and as brethren, we should:

Colossians 3:16

Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.

Yes Lord, we will, we love our new lifestyle.

Finally:

Colossians 3:17

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Yes, in our secular job, families, environments wherever.

So help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
