AWAKE

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6

But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief.

For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night.

So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

As believers, we ought Not to be afraid of the return of the Lord, for that is actually what we live for. He is not a stranger to us but our Lord and we are family. So His coming is not for our condemnation but our commendation.

Do you see chaos everywhere, wars, rumours of war and great evil happening then you expect all things to end? Well you did be surprised, for the scriptures say otherwise:

1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night.

When people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.

Mark 13:7 -8

And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for [such things] must needs be; but the end [shall] not [be] yet.

 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these [are] the beginnings of sorrows.

For man cannot correctly predict the end of time, however those who are awake will see the signs. As believers who are light, we never sleep, we stay awake, thus the door is NOT shut on us, neither will our master come to meet us doing the wrong things, NEVER! Help us Good Lord.

1 Thessalonians 5:6,8

So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded.

But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation.

There is no away time for the believer, we never take off our helmet, we are ready.

For we have been born into God's family, we are citizens, now in diaspora but will fully be in our city. Glory to God.

See He can return today, tomorrow, this month, this year, this decade, this century or within the millennium, it doesn't matter, we are always ready. Listen, how long do you have to live on earth - fifty, sixty, seventy, or even a hundred years more? - we will have to leave the scene then our own end has come, then we see Him. Check!

Forget those who accumulate wealth as if they will never die, they would not even know what those heaps of wealth will be used for when they are gone, it is foolishness. They will find out too late that it is what you did with what you have that counted, not what you looted or stacked away. May God have mercy, for many lack wisdom.

The work of God in us is not just for this life or world, it is an eternal one, don't belittle it with what you are chasing on earth. Invest more in the eternal. YOU ARE MORE THAN THAT!

1 Thessalonians 5:10-11

Christ died for us so that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever.

So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

Glory to God, we stay awake, we will never be caught unawares, for we are already with Him who is to come. So come Lord Jesus.

We build up our faith, our hope is reassured, Glory to God.

He calls us blessed.
