TROUBLE OR PEACE

Acts 17:5-6

But some of the Jews were jealous, so they gathered some troublemakers from the marketplace to form a mob and start a riot. They attacked the home of Jason, searching for Paul and Silas so they could drag them out to the crowd.

Not finding them there, they dragged out Jason and some of the other believers instead and took them before the city council. “Paul and Silas have caused trouble all over the world,” they shouted, “and now they are here disturbing our city, too.

The message of Christ did not carry anything destructive or trouble with it, it was the reconsiliation of the creator with the beings He created. The true Word was repent! Repent from what?

Acts 3:19

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away.

For truly all evil deeds done in this world would definitely be payed for, it is a deceit to feel that one can do evil and get away with it. No. There is judgment.

So what did Christ do?

Acts 10:38

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

That was why Christ asked His accusers who wanted to stone Him:

John 10:32

Jesus said, “At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?”

So the coming of Christ brought peace and hope for man, the message of salvation does the same. People are liberated from the bondage of sin, religions and all other forms of captivity. The question is why do people resist or plot against this good.

We can list so many, they include: misunderstanding, ignorance, misrepresentation by immature, fake or tare believers or leaders. However, our reading of today tells us of one - jealousy.

Acts 17:5a

But some of the Jews were jealous,

Many of the evils done have it's root in jealousy, from Cain killing Abel, Joseph's brothers selling him into slavery to Saul trying to kill David, all were rooted in jealousy(envy).

A very strong vice indeed, it causes many to backbite, persecute and even kill others. Yes, it is very childish yet it can be very deadly, NO believer is allowed to give room to it, for it breeds bitterness that forces the victim to do hideous things.

James 3:16

For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.

It is really a terrible vice destroying and eating deep into the culprit as they device evil(s) against their prey.

Destroy it in your children before it grows, discourage it from the brethren, work against it in any place you are given opportunity to lead. Let the peace of the Lord flow.

The gospel of Christ is the only peace that man can have, all these tares that have come in to sow discord will fail, all other vices are a mirage. Thus no matter the vice, God's Word will grow and prevail. Glory to God.

I am not caught in that evil web. I am a light that shineth and I cause others to shine too. Glory to God.

I am kept under the shadow of the Almighty. Halleluyah.

He calls us blessed.
