THE HOLY SPIRIT
Acts 19:2,4-6
“Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” he asked them.“No,” they replied, “we haven’t even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”
As soon as they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Then when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in other tongues and prophesied.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Heavenly Father and thus the Spirit of the Word, the Son of God, remember that God's Spirit was active from the beginning. So many have issues with the Trinity, however there is still the God Head consisting of the Heavenly Father, His Spirit and His Word(If God should have a body, the Word is His body)
This is what Paul explains:
Colossians 2:9
For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.
Listen if anyone thought they saw God in the old testament, No, the actually saw Christ or an angel.
Listen to Christ:
John 14:8-9
Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?
Now God's Spirit is Spirit, and when He created us, His Spirit gave us life, though some say that the soul and spirit are one and the same, it doesn't matter, the fact is that it is your spirit that communicates with God, if God is to speak to you, He speaks to your spirit, your soul is YOU!
Thus we are reborn, that is we are reconciled to the Father, it does not have to do with our body, but our spirit and soul:
John 3:3,5
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
We must be born of water(the Word) and the Spirit(Holy Spirit) for we to enter God's kingdom (become indigene). It is a "spiritual something":
John 3:6,8
Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.
The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”
The reason why some believers get born again and they are not consistent, or they even backslide is the power of salvation(Holy Spirit) kept redundant. Listen:
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The power must be released and that is why Paul asked: "to what baptism where you baptised?". It could not be the baptism of John the Baptist, it has to be that of Jesus the Christ, for you to receive God's Spirit.
Matthew 28:19
Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Though some argue this verse, because of it's proclamation of Trinity, however it points out of what baptism we receive.
However in a much accepted verse, John the Baptist during his baptisms told the people that the Christ was coming and He will baptise with fire and the Holy Spirit:
Matthew 3:11
“I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
A lot still needs to be said, howbeit the essential is that we must understand that the Holy Spirit is the power of the believer to live the Christian Life and it is in the name of Christ Jesus:
John 14:26
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
He is the seal by which we are sealed till the day of redemption:
Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also [trusted], after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Have you been baptised in the Holy Spirit? If you have, do you listen to Him, do you walk in obedience?
The evidence is tongues, prophesy and other gifts, but His nature(fruit) is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, GENTLENESS, FAITHFULNESS and SELF-CONTROL.
Remember:
Matthew 7:20
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us Blessed.
Love
@the watcher.
Amen
