HE IS GOD

Acts 17:23-25

for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.

“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples,

and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.

One problem with religion is the attempt to see God as an idol and attempting to please Him through rituals and varying forms of self righteousness. This is what Paul told them at Athens when He explained to them that the unknown God they placed amongst idols, was the True God Himself. Because they could not define Him or explain Him as they could their idols, thus they left Him UNDEFINED!

Acts 17:23

for as I was walking along I saw your many shrines. And one of your altars had this inscription on it: ‘To an Unknown God.’ This God, whom you worship without knowing, is the one I’m telling you about.

Till this day people try to define the One through God, Oh He is Christian, Jewish, Muslim or yet Undefined etc. None is correct for many who even encountered Him did not really know Him. Only one person revealed Him.

John 1:17-18

For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.

No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

John 1:18

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

Religion cannot serve God's need, HELLO, what do you have that you can possibly give Him, when all you have He allowed you to have.

Acts 17:24-26

“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples,

and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.

From one man he created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.

That is why when Cain and Abel brought their gifts one was accepted and the other rejected. When I was little, I used to assume that Cain brought spoilt offerings (cause some clergy of those days will erroneously use your dirty note or small offering of those times to compare with Cain's offering). No the problem was with his heart, he allowed evil in.

The same with all today, all your ablutions, washings, givings, prayers, and other physical rituals cannot do anything to your spirit, except your heart is right. The Lord is interested in your heart. For you must worship Him in Spirit and in truth.

Yes, in the time of ignorance man worshipped idols, but there was a time when Christ was revealed, the time of ignorance has passed:

Acts 17:29-30

And since this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone.

“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.

And that total cleansing can only be done by the Father Himself, and He has done it in His Son Jesus the Christ.

1 John 1:7

But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

Ephesians 1:7

He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.

Glory to God.

The problem only comes if we reject such great a salvation. For the Father has left all judgment to His Son:

Acts 17:31

For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.”

2 Timothy 4:1

I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he comes to set up his Kingdom:

2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all stand before Christ to be judged. We will each receive whatever we deserve for the good or evil we have done in this earthly body.

This is truth, this is wisdom, this is God. May we be wise.

He calls us Blessed.

Love
