VERITAPHOBIA
Acts 20:3
where he stayed for three months. He was preparing to sail back to Syria when he discovered a plot by some Jews against his life, so he decided to return through Macedonia.
One of the greatest fear of evil ones is the truth, thus they do all they can to stifle the truth even to the extent of killing. I remember a certain sect/religion where if any member of the family finds the truth and steps out, the other members of the family are expected to eliminate that person.
Thus when we read that some Jews tried to eliminate Paul it is not strange. What was his offence - He spoke and taught the truth.
This is the truth, as Jesus taught Nicodemus:
John 3:17-21
God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son.
And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil.
All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed.
But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.”
See the reaction of the leading priests because of Lazarus:
John 12:9-11
When all the people heard of Jesus’ arrival, they flocked to see him and also to see Lazarus, the man Jesus had raised from the dead.
Then the leading priests decided to kill Lazarus, too, for it was because of him that many of the people had deserted them and believed in Jesus.
What truth are you holding unto?
Through all the uproar and attack against him Paul kept encouraging believers from town to town, even though he was the one being persecuted:
Compare with the so called ministers today, what persecution do they face? A little criticism on social media, they go haywire, it looks as if their heaven has fallen. Funny enough most of them are guilty as accused.
See Paul was abused, beaten, stoned with the intention to kill him, yet he never wavered or complained, he kept on doing the work. I ask again, what persecution do these ministers face today?
In all the difficulties, he trained men, he prepared them to carry on the work he called no church his own, he carried all of them along, Listen:
Acts 20:4-6
Several men were traveling with him. They were Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea; Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica; Gaius from Derbe; Timothy; and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia.
They went on ahead and waited for us at Troas.
After the Passover ended, we boarded a ship at Philippi in Macedonia and five days later joined them in Troas, where we stayed a week.
These people fellowing him were from the different regions of Asia at that time, they were to be the church leaders, or support, thus he discipled them.
The question I ask again is, all these we practice as church service, or sacraments (relevant or irrelevant) whose examples are we following? So many things practiced today are strange to the body of Christ!
Every believer should read through the book of Acts to see how the church began and how they fellowshipped, then compare with the strange practices and beliefs we hold on to, today. Hello, "we are inexcusable", for we have the word with us, it is not an element or symbol of power, it remains just a book, till we open and read it. In the words lie power.
Hello, having a physics textbook does not empower you with knowledge and power of physics, but reading and practicing what is written in it gives you the knowledge and power of the field. Selah
We must know the truth, hold on to the truth and live the truth. Remember you are not free till you know the truth.
John 8:32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
