YOUR RESPONSE
Acts 12:1-5
About that time King Herod Agrippa began to persecute some believers in the church.
He had the apostle James (John’s brother) killed with a sword.
When Herod saw how much this pleased the Jewish people, he also arrested Peter. (This took place during the Passover celebration.)
Then he imprisoned him, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring Peter out for public trial after the Passover.
But while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
I was in a relation's house on a Sunday, it neighboured a small church or do I say meeting centre and I heard the pastor speaking. He said that they would never have troubles, that everything would be smooth for then from that day forth, his topic was focused on divine helpers.
Well, is that what Christ promised, is that true?
When we talk of christian trials or challenges, we are not talking of poverty, ill health or maybe failures, No. The church has got so distracted that they cannot face persecution for their faith. Why, because the focus is not Christ, his word and his assignment, but on those things which every other person seeks for.
Failing in business is not a persecution, neither is not have enough money, or that you are not feeling well. Persecution is that which is as a result of your faith, your obedience in Christ Jesus and the work you do for Him.
2 Timothy 3:12-13
Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.
We must understand what persecution is that we do not suffer amiss. We must not have wasted suffering. Selah
So Paul was converted it seemed all was peaceful, then Herod rose to persecute the church, he began by killing James, when he saw it pleased the people he arrested Peter.
Now what was the response from the church? - Prayers!
What should be our response when we face persecution, challenges or difficulty? Prayer
This is our weapon, every believer, every home and every gathering should be characterized by Prayer. Teach your children to pray, let those in your house pray, encourage your workers to pray, prayer is the language of heaven. It is the way you take your right and take privilege of your sonship.
There is nothing prayer cannot solve, no matter what the solution is, prayer is the starting point.
HAVE YOU PRAYED TODAY?
He calls us blessed.
