DO WE STILL HAVE THIS POWER?

Acts 13:9-11

Saul, also known as Paul, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and he looked the sorcerer in the eye.

Then he said, “You son of the devil, full of every sort of deceit and fraud, and enemy of all that is good! Will you never stop perverting the true ways of the Lord?

Watch now, for the Lord has laid his hand of punishment upon you, and you will be struck blind. You will not see the sunlight for some time.” Instantly mist and darkness came over the man’s eyes, and he began groping around begging for someone to take his hand and lead him.

The true enemy of the gospel is the Devil himself for each time a human is converted to become a believer he looses grip on that soul. This is why Christ said that the gate of hell will not prevail against the church.

We also have humans who oppose the gospel, the major reasons include:

* ignorance (as the case of Saul who later became Saul);

* envy;

* selfish gains;

* instrument in the hand of Satan;

* unbelieve.

Paul and Barnabas encountered one in Elymas, the sorcerer in Paphos, he was actually of Jewish origin. 

His own was for personal interest, he gained a lot by deceiving the people with sorcery, he had attached himself to the deputy of the country Sergius Paulo's. He dared to resist the gospel, he didn't want to loose his income and illicit gains from the people.

When the true word came, he encountered power, and not only did he loose his illegal income, he lost his sight. We don't know what become of him even after he regained his sight, however he and all in that country would not doubt God's power. Halleluyah.

Today, do we have that same power, to bring down the opposition against Christ? Not a carnal fight as religions do, but divine power that lets all know that God is here.

2Corinthians 10:4 

(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Some sects believe that all the working of miracles and display of power ended with the apostles, THIS IS NOT TRUE. We have the same power today, however, our carnality has not allowed us use them appropriately. For the more carnal minded we are, the further we move away from God. On the other hand the more Spirit minded we are, the closer we are to the Heavenly Father.

Today I pray Dear Father, that You revive us again, not just for carnal exploits and excellence BUT for Spiritual tenacity that we will show forth Your praise for you brought us from darkness to light and have endowed us with power. Thank You Dear Father.
