WHAT YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED WITH

Acts 1:7-8

He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Jesus had finished His work on earth, He had resurrected and was about to ascend. He continued to show Himself to the disciples for a span of forty days, on His final appearance the disciples were interested in one major thing:..

Acts 1:6

So when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, has the time come for you to free Israel and restore our kingdom?”

They and other Jewish leaders and people did not get the reason for His coming. It was not just for Israel alone, not just upto Samaria, but for the whole world.

When Jesus said:

Matthew 4:17

From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

It was not the kingdom of Israel, NO, it was far beyond that. Israel was only the starting point, the link or channel from which the message was to get to the whole world.

So Christ told them:

Acts 1:7

He replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know.

Some today are still worried about dates, time, seasons, what time exactly will the Lord return, when will the world be destroyed etc. When will I be rich, Jesus said that it is not for us to worry about.

We could get so carried away with earthly things and conquest that we loose sight of the eternal, some even loose eternal rest altogether.

Imagine Jesus was preaching to a crowd, and what mattered to a young man is earthly wealth, he was dragging with his brother. . .

Luke 12:13-15

Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.”

Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?”

Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”

Christ needs us to focus on the important thing, what matters:

Acts 1:5,8

John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

What mattered was not the restoration of Israel, NO. It was the release of the Holy Spirit with power to enable us to be Christ's witness to the whole world. That is what matters.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

That is our purpose, to bring all and maintain them in the kingdom of God.

How horrible it is that even the clergy, pope, bishop, overseers, pastors, prophets, elders or whatever title exists today, have left the primary assignment and have coined a new one for themselves. Some practice sorcery and the tradition of men, others practice money management, still others just wield power and influence, controlling the minds of people.

WHO IS ACTUALLY DOING THE LORD'S WORK? Where is the Holy Spirit and power. So much lies, hypocrisy and love of the world. I weep for so many trapped in deceit and illusions.

Christ will return, not like a baby but as a conqueror king:

Acts 1:9-11

After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.

As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them.

“Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”

What will He find when He returned, the church fulfilling the mandate He gave them, or man-made groups and religions doing what they think they should do? Where did we miss it, can we get back on track?

Ephesians 5:15-20

So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise.

Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,

singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts.

And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Are we reaching out to the unsaved? Are we edifying the saved? This is the major reason for this daily devotional.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
