THE ESSENCE OF YOUR FAITH

Hebrews 11:2

Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.


A lot of things loose it's value when people abuse it's essence or when people have the wrong motive. This was why two people brought sacrifices to the Lord, one was rejected the other accepted because the heart of one was upright before God while the other was perverse.


For instance we see James admonishing believers not to hold our faith in Christ Jesus with favouritism:


James 2:1

My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?


Those things are canker-worms that eat into the purpose of the faith and thus fault it's essence. 


We see Paul admonishing believers to keep faith with a good conscience:


1 Timothy 1:19

Cling to your faith in Christ, and keep your conscience clear. For some people have deliberately violated their consciences; as a result, their faith has been shipwrecked.


There is no way you can talk of faith in Christ and your conscience is evil, it just doesn't work. Listen, you cannot be a believer and be a sadist it is just not correlated, for Nehemiah told the people:


Nehemiah 8:10c

Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”


See verse 2 of Hebrews 11 again, the elders of old earned good reputation/report by their faith. 


*What report do we have of our faith today?*


Let us hear about our Lord the Christ


Acts 10:38

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.


From all your anointing, what is the report? 


For faith gives a good report even though they had not received what they hoped for. This generation is characterized by a lot of weak people who are only out for what they will receive, no more principle, caution or true believe. Love of money, relevance and other lusts of this world has blinded many to see that this earthly life is just a passing phase. 


The reward is with the Heavenly Father, and it is not completed here, it is actually an Heavenly inheritance. 


Hebrews 11:39

All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised.


What is the essence of your faith, what is the report. 


Remember, 

1 Corinthians 11:31

But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way.


We will not be found wanting, we will show forth good fruit/testimony, the essence of our faith will be fulfilled. 


Help us Good Lord. 


He calls us blessed.

Remember: God is in control.

As we go through the 11th month of this year of accomplishment, let us be reminded. When it seems to hurt so much, or it all looks quiet and alone, when it appears not to work out. Please don't give up, God is still in control Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
