IT IS WORTH THE WAIT

Acts 2:2-4

Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.

Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.

And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

When we do the things of the Lord continually there could come a time when it seems monotonous, we would want to spice things up, adventure or even return to former things, like Peter said:

John 21:3

Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.”“We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.

It was while they were at this that the Lord appeared to them and the question about his love for the Lord came up.

Is there an instruction? Yes

Acts 1:4-5

Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before.

John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”

Did it just come to fulfilment immediately? NO, there was a waiting.

There is no way you will walk with the Lord without learning how to wait. Selah

It was in the waiting that Peter made a move to select a replacement for Judas(can't say he received this instruction from the Lord, for the Holy Spirit had yet to be manifested).

What were they doing?

Acts 1:13-14

When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying. Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Simon (the Zealot), and Judas (son of James).

They all met together and were constantly united in prayer, along with Mary the mother of Jesus, several other women, and the brothers of Jesus.

Then on this special day of the Pentecost their wait was over!

Acts 2:4

And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability.

Was it worth it, yes. Also we see the effect of the Spirit, a meaningful display of power that attracted souls, not just a one off show.

We must keep fellowship, keep waiting, while walking in obedience for the final appearing will yet come to pass. The important thing is that the Master returns to find us in obedience.

Yes, not everyone will be alive to see His second coming, but they will be resurrected to a life with no more tears, struggle and sorrow. It is worth the wait.

What do we have to lose, nothing, for what is in this world? Nothing can be priced more than our soul. The enemy seeks for it too. We must not give in, we are wise and we know who has the power.

We will be found faithful, we are the victorious. We have eternal life, glory to the Heavenly Father.

He calls us blessed.

Love
