PRAYING
Matthew 26:36,40-41,44
Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.”
Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, “Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour?
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”
So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again.
I used to wonder why Jesus had to pray at all, He was God in the flesh, that is the word made flesh. Wait, He was actually human for He left all His glory and took up flesh, which gave Him a legal right to live on earth and through this right He took back the authority man lost at the garden of eden.
One needs to understand that God Himself is just.
If only we had a clue of what Christ did for us:
1 Peter 2:21-23
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.
He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.
He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered.
He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.
Do you know what it takes for a perfect prince to leave the throne and come to serve the punishments of sentenced prisoners in the worst prison ever, where the very accused ones still torment and eventually kill him. It gives you a slight picture of what Christ suffered for man. How can you reject so great a salvation. . . *Hebrews 2:3
So why did Jesus have to pray?
He was not in the Heavenly, He was on earth so He had to follow the principle of earth. The same way He had to eat, drink and even sleep. If only we know the legal right we have wearing this earth suit.
Christ prayed because the only way to get divine intervention on this physical earth is by prayer. So who are you not to pray?
Prayer is all encompassing, look at one major reason why we have to keep praying:
Matthew 26:41
Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak!”
That we may not give in to temptation, for temptation does not stop, but we must not give in. Where does the power come from, above, and how do we get it, by prayer.
Jude 1:20
But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit,
There are many religions (religions are manmade) that pray and they all testify of a certain type of relief or even further have miraculous testimony. The truth is that by default and psychology prayer and meditation is a consoling therapy for every human. However there is only one way to the Heavenly Father and the only person who could claim it is the Son. For His glory had been there before the world began:
John 8:58
Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I am!”
John 17:3,5
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.
Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.
So how do we pray, what is the recommended format for prayer?
John 16:23-24
At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.
You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.
So the format is that we pray directly to the Heavenly Father but through Christ Jesus. Yes, for He is the one that has all authority. Listen:
Matthew 28:17-18
When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.
See it is a myth to pray to angels, dead saints or prophets or any person for that matter. For they cannot hear you neither intercede on your behalf, it is unscriptural and beware for when we disobey God's principle we obey that of the enemy. Selah
*powers of darkness wait for people to contradict God’s laid down principles that they may take charge, remember that this is how man lost his glory at the beginning, seeking for what is not lost, finding another way apart from the one the Heavenly Father had given* Beware!
Acts 4:11-12
For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,
‘The stone that you builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.’
There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
No matter how wide spread a lie has gone it cannot become the truth. There are so many beliefs out there, but there is only one truth. Only one person can lay claim to it.
John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
Anyone teaching of any other way be it a prophet a physical relation of Christ, an angel lies. No other!
Galatians 1:6,8
I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News
Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.
1 Corinthians 3:11
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.
So we must pray aright and through the right channel. Victory is ours.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
Never stop praying.
Thank you Dear Father for the release of your Son to us, thank you Lord Jesus for the sacrifice, we bask in the glory of your victory as we continue daily in prayers. Halleluyah.
He calls us blessed.
Love
