YOU MUST FORGIVE

Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?”

“No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!

As difficult as it may seem sometimes, it is obligatory that the believer forgives. For you cannot afford to carry the weight of un-forgiveness on this journey.

Also, it is an instruction!

This is summed in Christ's parable of the unforgiving servant, whose master forgive him for owing millions of dollars but afterwards went ahead to put in prison another servant who owed him a few thousand dollars.

We had the sin which led to death, God did not just forgive us but paid the debt for us, and adopted us as His children, what is that thing that one would do to us that is unforgivable?

Matthew 18:32-33

Then the king called in the man he had forgiven and said, ‘You evil servant! I forgave you that tremendous debt because you pleaded with me.

Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’

Christ says if you do not forgive, you do not deserve the Heavenly Father's forgiveness.

Matthew 6:14-15

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you.

But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.

I sometimes wonder the type of Spirit that makes a believer always annoyed, always agitated, never smiling. I really don't understand that Spirit.

Philippians 4:4-5

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!

Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Un-forgiveness will steal your joy, for each time the thought comes to your heart the joy flies away, and so does the presence of God:

Psalm 16:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence [is] fulness of joy; at thy right hand [there are] pleasures for evermore.

Romans 14:17-18

For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.

Dear Father give us a heart to forgive just the way you do. That in all things your love, joy and peace would reign in our hearts. We carry your nature and your nature is love.

Thank you Father.

He calls us blessed.

Love
