WHERE ARE THE MIRACLES?
Matthew 17:17,20
Jesus said, “You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.”
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
Why are there no miracles like the time of old? Surely, there are miracles today, yes everyday, it is just that sometimes we do not see the spectacular. However, where are the spectacular?
The flow of miracles began when the Holy Spirit was released on the disciples and the same Spirit has been released on every believer, however, we yet ask - where is the power?
Has the Lord stopped healing the sick, giving sight to the blind, making the lame work, delivering those held bound by demons, or even raising the dead? NO
What is the stumbling block - lack of faith. For faith is not just an expression, it is a life. For just as Jesus said, faithlessness and corruption goes together. For you cannot serve God and Mammon.
The motive was wrong, it is not a show off, it is serious business. You cannot live a perverse life and expect spiritual strives. It is for this reason some have resulted to gimmicks and tricks to attract people, for this was their motive all along, - selfish gain.
Miracles, healings etc are released to all who believe - now faith is an extension of belief. Remember that to please the Heavenly Father you actually need faith Hebrews 11:6.
So you see it works hand in hand. The display of God's power is a function of faith, your desire to please Him. Listen to Jesus:
John 8:29
And the one who sent me is with me—he has not deserted me. For I always do what pleases him.”
For as long as you walk with Him, doing His will, His power is available.
Listen again:
Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
The power was released for the kingdom work - to bring people to Christ.
This is the real essence of spiritual leadership that the body may come to the unity of faith. It is not for a selfish or a personal agenda.
Ephesians 4:11-13
Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers.
Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
So the power is not for show off but for work, that is why Jesus said:
John 5:17
But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working, and so am I.”
John 4:34
Then Jesus explained: “My nourishment comes from doing the will of God, who sent me, and from finishing his work.
What is stopping us from being used by the Master?
2 Timothy 2:21
If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work.
That is what is missing, selfish purpose must be let off, every form of corruption removed, we must be clean, sincere, people of faith.
Oh help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
