THE RESURRECTED LIFE
Matthew 22:31-32
“But now, as to whether there will be a resurrection of the dead—haven’t you ever read about this in the Scriptures? Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, God said,
‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead.”
We wonder at the belief of the Sadducees, "there is no resurrection of the dead", the very thought of it is foolish, because then why care about God, for then how can one have hope only in this life, it is a total waste.
1 Corinthians 15:16,19
And if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised.
And if our hope in Christ is only for this life, we are more to be pitied than anyone in the world.
If all we had was this 100 to 120 years on this earth, then life itself would be a waste, for at what point do one really live the life, for in every stage of this earthly life we see its challenges and troubles.
So Christ explained to them that God was of the living and not of the dead. Very well so.
The other aspect then is what we will be after this life here on earth. Firstly, Christ explains to us that there will be no marriage:
Matthew 22:29-30
Jesus replied, “Your mistake is that you don’t know the Scriptures, and you don’t know the power of God.
For when the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage. In this respect they will be like the angels in heaven.
Listen, most of the things we put so much emphasis here on earth do not have eternal value. For some think that when they are married they have complete joy, hmm, another work actually begins. Another thinks when I make so much money I will have complete joy, then they have to maintain/retain the wealth and other things that come with it, yet still another work begins, and on and on again the struggle continues.
The desire of every man is to gain his soul, peace of mind cannot be compared to any thing the world has to offer. A soul at peace with it's creator is the real definition of contentment.
Mark 8:36-37
And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
Is anything worth more than your soul?
For after this life the soul must find rest and that is what Christ Jesus came to do.
Matthew 11:28
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
Not just in this life but in the life to come, that is what Christ promised.
John 6:39-40
And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.
For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. I will raise them up at the last day.”
Mark 10:30
will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.
Luke 18:29-30
“Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God,
will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come.”
It is a full package, complete and eternal, for this life and the life to come. There is no loss with Christ Jesus actually it is win-win all the way.
Some erroneously have been promised false things after this life, in cults, sects, various religions and beliefs. However there is only one truth and He Himself is the truth and the Life, for hello, you can only give what you have. ..
Matthew 14:33
Then the disciples worshiped him. “You really are the Son of God!” they exclaimed.
John 1:14
So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
John 1:17
For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ.
John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
Our victory as believers is both in this life and the life to come. Glory to God.
He calls us blessed.
