THE HOUSE OF PRAYER

Matthew 21:13

He said to them, “The Scriptures declare, ‘My Temple will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have turned it into a den of thieves!”

Do we have a physical temple of the Lord today? The temple in Israel has been destroyed again and again. Is there a particular physical place where the Lord comes to dwell, time and again, where if you go to, you will experience God? 

Well, Jesus told the Samaritan woman:

John 4:21,23-24

Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

He told His disciples:

Matthew 18:20 

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Thus no one can trap you in a certain building, memorial site, stone, mountain, valley or so called temple. No one should take you through long distances just to experience the Heavenly Father, it is all sentiment. For God is Spirit He is not limited by a place. Remember:

Psalms 24:1-2

The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths.

When we understand this we now go further to what fellowshipping together entails. When we come together as a church or believers what does our gathering entail? 

1 Corinthians 14:26

Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.

These are the reasons for gathering, that each one is edified and strengthened to go out into the world to continue the good work. 

Hello, if all you gather together to discuss is business strategies, keys to make wealth, politics or even just about demons and evil spirits etc. Then there is no difference between your gathering and that of a business school, political gathering, social club, cult, witchcraft or any other secular organization. 

Some have even gone to the extent of inviting comedians to their gatherings so that the joy of the Holy Spirit can be recreated by the carnal jesting of the flesh, what madness. 

Every leader would give account of the primary assignment. The spiritual leader's assignment is the one that Christ gave Peter when He was about to ascend to Heaven:

John 21:15-17

After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”“Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.”“Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him.

Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?”“Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.”“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.

A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.”Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.

Is your gathering together as believers edifying the individual members? Has it become a market place, a show house or a mere motivational group. 

Jesus said, it will be called a house of prayer. That is what it should be. 

Is your prayer life limited to reciting things, repeating citations or just communicating with devils (yes some believers get carried away busy with the enemy that they spend no time with the Heavenly Father - learn from Jesus), hey, is He your Heavenly Father or you are communicating with a stranger. Child of God, release your heart to Him. Christ came to set us free from bondage, let no one put you in one again. Enjoy Him as your Father. He calls you child. Everyone who has believed, no matter the earthly title comes under that same status. Note, some are recognized on earth but are not even known in Heaven. The Lord grant us understanding. 

So help us Good Lord. 

He calls us blessed.
