LIKE A CHILD
Matthew 18:3-4
Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.
So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
The key factor for recognition in the Kingdom of God is Humility. This was the reply the disciples got when they asked Christ who was the greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.
Consider this, those the Lord allowed to have audience with Him, they had that nature. As wealthy and prosperous as Abraham was, we do not see any pride in Him, even when his nephew who he raised allowed his servants to dispute the land with his servants, he humbly submitted to him. He asked him to pick which ever he wanted not minding that he, Abraham, made Lot who he was.
In Proverbs 6:17, the first on the list of what God hates is the opposite of humility - Pride!
So when Christ says like a child, does He mean that we do not grow or mature, that we remain children? NO he explains what we should retain:
First, turn from your sins (the innocence of a child) and Humility (No form of pride) - Matthew 18:3-4.
Then He went further to tell us how important it is for us to also respect children and those who are childlike in Christ Jesus. For the Lord does not take it lightly with those who lead the humble to sin:
Matthew 18:5-7
“And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.
But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to have a large millstone tied around your neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea.
“What sorrow awaits the world, because it tempts people to sin. Temptations are inevitable, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting.
For many bring wrath on themselves with the notion that they are smart or wise. We must remember:
Hebrews 10:31
It is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
For those you think you can take advantage of and they refuse to resist you, have left their battle to the Lord. Read Hebrews 10:30-31.
Many do not understand how these spiritual things work, thus they get themselves into trouble. See, the earth is not all there is, also, remember that the Lord is the changer of times and seasons. Selah
Christ says, yes there will be temptations, persecutions and pain in the world but woe to those who cause them. Why be the villain?
Dear Lord, I let go of every form of pride and sin. Your sacrifice Lord Jesus has fulfilled God's plan in my life. I am part of the kingdom of Heaven. Thank you Dear Father.
So help us Good Lord.
He calls us blessed.
Love
