AROUND THE TRUTH
Matthew 21:25-26
“Did John’s authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human?”They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask us why we didn’t believe John.
But if we say it was merely human, we’ll be mobbed because the people believe John was a prophet.”
The leading priests and elders questioned Christ's authority, the saw His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, they saw Him chase money changers and businessmen out of the temple, then He began to heal the sick.
Definitely their own authority was being questioned, they wouldn't feel comfortable. The question is, were they doing the right thing? Were they following the way of the Lord or doing their own things?
If they were doing the right thing the temple would not have become a den of thieves?
The church of Christ also came under this same error, where the true teaching of scriptures were either totally neglected or mixed with earthly culture, philosophy, myths and sentiments. Even after the word of God had been liberated from the hands of the few, many today are still under the bondage of a person or group of person. Not to the will of God, but for their private interest:
John 8:32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
The word of God is truth and no matter how they tried to resist, it is available to everyone's reach. Don't forget that many died, yes paid with their blood for this to happen. What's our excuse for not studying and meditating therein.
2 Timothy 2:15,25-26
Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.
Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.
Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.
We must stick to the truth. We must learn and teach the right things. . . rightly diving the word of truth.
1 Timothy 4:6-7,16
If you explain these things to the brothers and sisters, Timothy, you will be a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is nourished by the message of faith and the good teaching you have followed.
Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead, train yourself to be godly.
Keep a close watch on how you live and on your teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the salvation of those who hear you.
Salvation is too expensive to be smeared with a lie. Our souls are too precious for us to err. Eternity is too long to live in regret.
Help us Good Lord. We submit to your Spirit's guidance.
He calls us blessed.
Love
