COMPASSION - THE DRIVING FORCE FOR ANY LEADER
Matthew 14:14-16
Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.
That evening the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away so they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.”
But Jesus said, “That isn’t necessary—you feed them.”
Why did Jesus come to the earth?
LOVE - COMPASSION. John 3:16
The driving force of every leader ought to be love, as I said in one of my earlier write ups, you should never lead a people you don't love. You have no business leading people that you do not have their interest at heart, unless you say they are your slaves or captives.
Yes, Jesus came to set the captives free. Luke 4:18.
This is why it is evil for anyone who says they are of God to lead others in captivity. No, Christ has set us free, why put us in any form of bondage again?
Look at the passage of today Mathew 14:13-21. When Jesus came down from the boat, the crowd met Him, what was His feeling? Compassion, this compassion motivated Him to heal all their sick.
Listen, not for popularity, or for the cameras, or to attract more members, or to become relevant. No. Compassion, which is birthed from the very God nature - Love.
Next He fed them the word till late in the evening, that was not enough, He wanted them fed, how will they feed over 5,000 with five loaves and two fishes - again His compassion prompted the miracle, they were fed with twelve baskets left.
Glory to God.
I always say this - the fruit of the Spirit should birth the use of the gifts of the Spirit (Read 1 Corinthians 13). You have no business displaying the gifts if you do not bear the fruit.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.
This is one problem with most world leaders, especially in Africa. You want to rule a people you neither love or are compassionate for. It is disgusting that you claim to be a leader in a country and you have control of the country's resources yet:
* they lack good roads;
* they have epileptic power supply;
* they wallow in poverty;
* they have dysfunctional education system;
* they have a dilapidated health system;
* their currency is almost valueless;
* insecurity thrives
and many other atrocities. Yet they want to sit tight on the throne.
Where is the leadership, why are you leading? They are most times shameless and have no value for the life of the people.
You have no business leading people that you have no love or compassion for!
If your motivation as a leader is not love and compassion. How can you bring joy to the people you lead. How do you make the nation, church, organisation, family a success and a place of joy when the people who make the constituents are unhappy?
Wisdom is need. Love must be the driving force.
Discipline cannot be neglected but make sure that you have done your own part too. Have compassion.
The Lord will help us. The church will move forward, our organisation will prosper, the nation will be healed. The Lord will have His way.
He calls us blessed.
Love
