THEY KNOW HIM

Matthew 8:29

They began screaming at him, “Why are you interfering with us, Son of God? Have you come here to torture us before God’s appointed time?”

The powers of darkness knew who Christ was and what He represented, however they did not know or understand the master plan.

Christ met two possessed men in the in the country of Gergesenes, they were so fierce that no one passed where they were, this showed that they had a lot of demons in them. Yes many for they requested to go into a herd of swines(a herd could be as many as 2,000 and above)

Notice that they recognized who He was "Son of God", not just that, they knew He had the power of judgment. Yes every demonic power knows that they have limited time, their judgment/sentence has been passed, we just await the appointed time. So they asked ". . .  to torture us before God’s appointed time. . ."

We who are believers are the ones that sometimes forget the power of Christ. I love this hymn written by Edward Perronet (1726 – 2 January 1792) who was the son of an Anglican priest, who worked closely with Anglican priest John Wesley and his brother Charles Wesley for many years in England's eighteenth century revival. It is said that he wrote the hymn during his missionary work in India.

The first verse is:

"All hail the power of Jesus' name!
Let angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!"

Yes all angels bow to the name of Jesus, this includes even the fallen angels as we see in the opening verses of our text today.

Philippians 2:9-11
Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Do you know who the husband of the church is, your Lord and still your Saviour and friend? The enemy knows, you should too.

However many have gotten used to the world so they do not want anything to do with Christ. Some follow religions, denominations, sects, philosophy, lies, sentiments, science even cults and powers of darkness. They think they have a form of liberty but NO, they have shortchanged themselves, they are slaves to powers that they ought to dominate.

Even some have been confused with angels and other dead individuals and prophets who have no say on our lives, but await the resurrection, they are distractions from the only access to the Heavenly Father. May all who havecsincere hearts be totally free. 

See what the people at Gergesenes did, instead of rejoicing that Christ cast out the demons, meaning that liberty has come to them:

Matthew 8:33-34
The herdsmen fled to the nearby town, telling everyone what happened to the demon-possessed men.
Then the entire town came out to meet Jesus, but they begged him to go away and leave them alone.

Many have rejected Christ for so many reasons. Some of them because of the false representation of so called priests, pastors, ministers or spiritual leaders. However the fact that someone misuses a drug does not remove its potency. The truth is the truth, Jesus said:

John 8:32
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

The truth is:

John 14:6
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

All should come to Christ today, and truly He is interested in a one on one relationship with you. To serve the Father in Spirit and in Truth (John 8:23-24)

Revelation 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Dear Lord we have opened the door to you, we recognize and accept you in all your Glory and power, reign in our lives here and through eternity. 

We love you Lord.

He calls us blessed.
