THE FEW

Matthew 7:13-14
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.
But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.

From the beginning it has always been about the few (a remnant). When the flood cleared the earth only a handful were left behind. Of the multitude that left Egypt only two of that generation entered the promise land.

When Elijah cried to God that all had turned to the way of Baal the Lord informed him that He had 7,000 who had not yet bowed.

When Jesus walked the earth as man, many followed Him, however when He revealed the criteria for His true followers many stopped following only a very few were left:

John 6:66-69
At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him.
Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”
Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.
We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”

The narrow way is the one that has all the challenges of this life and that is the only way the believer should follow, for the way of the world contradicts the way of the Heavenly Father. Thus it is funny when we see believers who try so much to be accepted into the secular world, that they compromise their faith and thus submit to the flesh.

James 4:4
You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

In trying to please the world we displease God, in pleasing God we displease the world. Is this a stalemate, NO, it is actually a checkmate because in pleasing the Heavenly Father we overcome the world. For what does the world have to offer that the Heavenly Father cannot give more than we can ask or imagine.

Is it riches? The enemy was making a fool of himself in offering the earth and its riches to Christ in the wilderness, for we know the real owner:

Psalms 24:1
The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

Thus it is an irony for the enemy to offer Him the earth.

Now, this is the same trick the enemy used against the first man, when he told his wife that He would be like God. Man was already like God, for he was made in God's image a master piece that was not limited by death, what man did not have was the knowledge of good and evil. Thus in seeking that knowledge man lost dominion that even animals whom he named became a threat to him.

The same today, many have traded so many eternal glories to settle for a vain or minute earthly glory. Only "the few" have refused to compromise.

Are you part of the few, or have you joined the multitude that will perish?

Exodus 23:2
“You must not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you are called to testify in a dispute, do not be swayed by the crowd to twist justice.

So Christ explained to the Samaritan woman the type of worshippers the Heavenly Father seeks:

John 4:23-24
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.
For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Are you among the faithful few or are you with the falling away multitude?

Now the few accumulates to form an uncountable number, really many will make it at the end, never feel uncomfortable to be among the few:

Revelation 7:9-10
After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.
And they were shouting with a great roar,
“Salvation comes from our God who sits on the throne and from the Lamb!”

Revelation 19:6-7
Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder:
“Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him.
For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself.

We are to be among the number, the accumulation of "the few".

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
