NO SHOWOFF

Matthew 6:1-4
“Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven.
When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get.
But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.
Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Simply said by our Lord, the show off, gives the glory to you and not the Heavenly Father, then why should you expect any rewards?

We must know what is ours and what is for the Heavenly Father, there is one thing the Lord says He will share with no one, that is:

Isaiah 42:8
“I am the Lord; that is my name!
I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.

What is the motive of show-off? It is pride, though some innocently advertise their giving, Christ teaches our complete discretion.

There is a difference between the life of a believer and that of the unsaved, there is a believer's way of life and it is embedded in scriptures.

The summary of the believers life is total submission to the Heavenly Father, we lay our path that way, this is why when Jesus taught, he would say ". . . not like the children of the world...", for there must be that distinction.

So when Christ says:

Matthew 5:48
But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.

He is saying that you live your life as whose you are, our example is the Heavenly Father Himself, if we are His children then we must show forth His nature.

So help us good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

  1. Yes, everything belongs to God. He decided to bless us in accordance to His desire. Blessing from him is our portion, when all Glories belongs to Him.
