IDENTIFYING THEM

Matthew 7:15-16
“Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

How do we know those that are from the Lord, is it by the miracles they perform, the tongues they speak or maybe how much they dissect scriptures? Well what does Christ teach about signs and wonders?

Mark 16:17-18
These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: They will cast out demons in my name, and they will speak in new languages.
They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

So these signs are to be displayed by you and me who believed. Hey, it did not say we run after them, we actually display them. Check!

Thus is it thus the identifying factor for prophets or "men of God"?

Well Jesus says:

Matthew 7:16-18
You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
A good tree produces good fruit, and a bad tree produces bad fruit.
A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit.

Galatians 5:22-25
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there.
Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.

Is it just about what they display when everyone or the camera is around? No. What is their testimony? If you are born of the Heavenly Father you must show forth His nature and His nature is of love. For by their fruit, you know them. Galatians 5:22-23 describes the nature of the Spirit, this is the nature of those from the Lord.

Some who claimed to come from the Lord do not even hide the fact that they lack this nature they blatantly display the very opposite nature and even boast about it.

The joy in all is that everyone has the opportunity to get right back on track.

The last prophet, that is the one who foretold the coming of the Messiah, John the Baptist said:

Matthew 3:10
Even now the ax of God’s judgment is poised, ready to sever the roots of the trees. Yes, every tree that does not produce good fruit will be chopped down and thrown into the fire.

He said this when he foretold the coming of Christ and the judgment that follows, when Jesus finally came He said:

John 15:2
He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more.

When the people heard the message of John the Baptist they asked, "what do we do?", John's response was that they should repent and he baptized them. Listen to what Jesus said:

John 15:3-5
You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you.
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

Thus we are baptized by the word of God and we remain in Him by obedience to bear fruit, then we will be fruitful and what we deserve is to be pruned to get more fruit.

However those that refuse to bear fruit are heading to be cut off and be burned:

John 15:6
Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.

So the question is, are you bearing good fruit? Is your nature that of the Christ? Are we showing forth His signs or are we pursuing them?

True prophets will point you to Christ Jesus for He is the Heavenly Father revealed, there is no way you will know the Heavenly Father without His Word and who is the Word, Christ Jesus Himself.

How do you identify those of the Lord?

Matthew 7:20
Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

What tree are you from? Selah

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.
