SPIRITUAL GIFTS - the body of Christ

1 Corinthians 12:4-5,12&27
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.
There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.
The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

It is established that the Son of the Living God, Jesus the Christ, (for those who argue His name), the Word of God, is the one who revealed the Father. No other person could or can.

Luke 10:22
All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and [he] to whom the Son will reveal [him].

John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

Thus many may claim to know Jesus, but if they do not know Him as the Son of the Living God, they do not know Him, also if they deny His divinity, they do not know Him.

1 Corinthians 12:3
So I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God will curse Jesus, and no one can say Jesus is Lord, except by the Holy Spirit.

For many even lived in the days when Christ walked this earth as a man, yet they could not enjoy His glory for they doubted and argued with and about Him.

Matthew 16:16&17
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed [it] unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

Thus until the Son is revealed to you of the Father, you will not believe, also if the Father is not revealed to you by the Son you will never know Him. Understand the Word!

Thus we CANNOT begin to talk of the gifts of the Spirit except we know the Father and the Son, for He is the Spirit of the Father and the Son.

1 Corinthians 12:1,4
Now, dear brothers and sisters, regarding your question about the special abilities the Spirit gives us. I don’t want you to misunderstand this.
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all.

This is different from sorcery and magic, it is divine.

The gifts are given to the believer to profit thereby, for edification of the body of Christ, that is His church.

1 Corinthians 12:6-7
God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

And what are the gifts:

1 Corinthians 12:8-10
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another [divers] kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Who decides what gift each one gets? It is God's Spirit, He gives to everyone as they need and according to what their role is:

1 Corinthians 12:11
It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

Can we request, or desire gifts, yes we can, that is why we can pray, however you must desire to fulfil your call or ministry.

John 16:23
And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give [it] you.

For just as the body has different parts, so also the body of Christ everyone has their role and function and none should think that they are more important than the other. We all perform our functions for the same goal.

1 Corinthians 12:27
All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

There is a structure as Paul explains:

1 Corinthians 12:28
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

We do not disrupt this order but find our place and do our work. For if in an organization they tussle for power, authority or relevance, the work suffers and the organization is sailed to hit the rocks.

The body of Christ cannot be so.

1 Corinthians 12:20-22
Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.
The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”
In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.

No one is nonessential or irrelevant, neither is anyone dispensable.

I have said in our earlier studies that the fact that you have a gift does not mean you go forth to start a church. It is the apostle that plants churches(and a church ought to be as a result of location. ...)

No gift is irrelevant for just as it is compared with the body, as we read in 1 Corinthians 12, the part we look down on are the most cherished, they are the ones we even protect the more:

1 Corinthians 12:23-25
And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen,
while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.
This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.

So the fact that you are always on the spot light or in front of the camera does not make you better than those who work behind the scene, everyone is important.

1 Corinthians 12:26-27
If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.
All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

No matter your gift you must be part of evangelism and, prayers!

In all, there is the gift that all must seek, the way of life of the believer. Love.

"When I was very much younger I did a comparison between the gifts and the fruit(s) of the Spirit. Do we know the relationship?"

For if we are saved, we are all part of the body. Thus we arise and do our work. So help us Dear Father.

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
