ONE GOD - we help the weak
1 Corinthians 8:6
But for us,
There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live.
And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.
Most believers, especially those from Gentile origin, would have been used to the existence of small gods. Thus the consciousness of them as we see Paul explain in chapter 8, of the first letter to the Corinthians.
The consciousness of these gods makes them feel defiled for eating food dedicated to them. For just as Paul explained:
1 Corinthians 8:7
However, not all believers know this. Some are accustomed to thinking of idols as being real, so when they eat food that has been offered to idols, they think of it as the worship of real gods, and their weak consciences are violated.
So those who are mature are careful in this and other things not to cause the weak ones to stumble.
1 Corinthians 8:9-11
But you must be careful so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.
For if others see you—with your “superior knowledge”—eating in the temple of an idol, won’t they be encouraged to violate their conscience by eating food that has been offered to an idol? So because of your superior knowledge, a weak believer for whom Christ died will be destroyed.
My concept of idols is spirit beings attaching themselves to articles man idolize and thus take control of those people, for we see that they are territorial. When the children of Israel at Mount Sinai built a golden image to worship, it was just an object just as all idols are. Be they in Arabia, India, China or whatever place. It is when men begin to worship this images that spirit beings are attracted, thus they build a territory around these idols and thus dominate the people. Many religions are just like this.
When you need elements eg, beads to worship, monumental sites and enclosures, know that you are not far from idolatry.
This is why the Lord warned His people about making graven images of anything. It is idolatry. (See, we have no business with an image of Christ, his disciples, Angels any Heavenly being or dead saints, for no one has a picture of Christ, no-one)
MAY THOSE IN THESE BONDAGE BE DELIVERED.
When we come to Christ we let go of every form of pride. We do things to please Him and not our flesh. Thus, we are conscious of those who follow us and watch our steps, we cannot afford to lead them amiss.
1 Corinthians 8:12-13
And when you sin against other believers by encouraging them to do something they believe is wrong, you are sinning against Christ.
So if what I eat causes another believer to sin, I will never eat meat again as long as I live—for I don’t want to cause another believer to stumble.
We also remember that we do not know all things, this is the reserved right for the Heavenly Father alone!
1 Corinthians 8:2
Anyone who claims to know all the answers doesn’t really know very much.
What strengthens the church is LOVE.
1 Corinthians 8:1,3
Now regarding your question about food that has been offered to idols. Yes, we know that “we all have knowledge” about this issue. But while knowledge makes us feel important, it is love that strengthens the church.
But the person who loves God is the one whom God recognizes.
SEE, WHAT IS OUR BUSINESS WITH FOOD OFFERED TO IDOLS. We don't need ask questions when we buy things in the open market. We are free people!
The Lord will help us, we will not go astray and we will NOT lead others astray. We will not remain in any form of bondage instead we will accept the liberty of Christ and be indebted to the Heavenly Father alone in Christ Jesus for:
1 Corinthians 8:6
