LOVE

1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.
But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

This gift called LOVE, it is actually a nature, a way of life. For it ought to be the motivation for all our actions as believers.

I Corinthians reminds us that all our works amount to nothing, if we do not love. For love ought to be our driving force:

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.
If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing.

Let us look at it, it was Love that made the Father seek for us, love made Him sacrifice His very Word for us.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Do you understand that the whole of the commandments is summarized as LOVE:

Matthew 22:36-40
Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

For your worship of God, your service, your relationship with others, even your secular work, should be driven by love.

The evil in the world as escalated as it is today, is as a result of love gone cold. And it's prevalence still makes people's love grow cold.

One of the signs of the end of days is that sin will abound and the love of many will grow cold. We are instructed by Christ not to let this happen, we are to endure to the end.

Matthew 24:12-13
Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.
But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

For many will play religion, yet there would be no love in their hearts, many will claim to be believers yet their driving force will not be love, we are advised to avoid them:

2 Timothy 3:1-5
You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.
For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.
They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.
They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.
They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

What would make a supposed leader entrusted with the people's wealth, loot the same wealth and stack it idly away from the very same people, while roads are bad, infrastructures are depleted, salaries are not paid, inflation soars, medical services and educational institutions are in crumbling state, power supply is epileptic and they still are not moved. They convert the common wealth for private use! It is because there is no love. Why should any with such evil heart, even dream of inheriting God's kingdom? They have already signed their eternal damnation.

Others lie and cheat, torment and oppress others, taking undue advantage because they have no love.

Listen in Mathew 25(please read again vs. 37-46): the deciding factor, the separation between the goats and the sheep is LOVE!

So it matters what the motivation is, for every human. Starting from the love of the Heavenly Father in His Son who gave His life for all to the love of fellow men. Yes, even judgment is birthed out love. Selah

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud
or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.
It does not rejoice about *injustice* but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Paul concludes 1 Corinthians 13, by saying:

1 Corinthians 13:13
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.

For there are things that are temporary, however that which is eternal should be taken care of first. For what will one gain if they acquired the whole world and yet loose their soul.

Luke 12:20
“But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’

So never loose, faith, hope and above all LOVE. No matter what happens here on earth.

Help us Good Lord.

He calls us blessed.

Love
