THE LIFE WE LIVE
1 John 3:1,7-8
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him.
Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous.
But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
We must understand that when we were saved a brand new man was born. Our nature of sin is removed and we receive God’s nature. However we must also understand that our mind and our body are not yet changed, though they are the container of this new man.
Listen, when you become saved, all the skills you learnt do not disappear, neither does your body increase or reduce one way or the other either by mass, colour or texture. It is your spirit that is regenerated, brought from death to life.
Now that is why, we offer our body as a sacrifice (the dwelling place of the Most High) and our mind is transformed by continual renewal. Selah
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.
And
Romans 12:1-2
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
This is what John is saying, we cannot become citizens of heaven and live like citizens of hell!
1 John 3:5-6,8-9
And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.
Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.
But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil.
Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God.
This is actually supposed to be the identifying factor!
Jesus said:
Matthew 7:20
Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.
Please get this right, at salvation, we are grafted in, to become part of the vine, Christ is the vine and we are the branches (the Heavenly Father is the husbandman). Now you only remain alive when you are attached to the vine. You receive water, foods, all necessary nutrients. You can only bear fruits of that tree. You cannot start bearing fruits of another tree. Selah
1 John 3:10
So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.
Now, immediately anyone detaches themselves from the vine(tree), they die. They loose access to all the nutrients and thus can no longer bear the fruit. John 15.
This is clear, you must live the identity of whose you are, there is no other way around it.
What will happen to our body and mind at the end. We cannot fully tell, what we know is that we will be changed to be like Him.
1 John 3:2
Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.
Remember we will be where He is.
Glory to God.
Help us dear Lord, we will not be cut away from you. We will remain faithful till the end. Living your nature. For it is in you we live and have our being.
