RADIATING HIS GLORY
Exodus 34:29,33-35
When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord.
When Moses finished speaking with them, he covered his face with a veil.
But whenever he went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with the Lord, he would remove the veil until he came out again. Then he would give the people whatever instructions the Lord had given him, and the people of Israel would see the radiant glow of his face. So he would put the veil over his face until he returned to speak with the Lord.
Moses spent time in God's presence on the mountain, where the Lord descended to seal His covenant with the children of Israel. God's display of power was to be shown to the whole world through this people, if only they had faith.
Each time Moses went to see the Lord he returned with a glow so bright the people could not look into his face:
Exodus 34:30
So when Aaron and the people of Israel saw the radiance of Moses’ face, they were afraid to come near him.
The power of God's word is overwhelming, for it carries with it a glory that radiates like light to remove any darkness. For what Moses experienced was the word of God and he did not need food or water and his glory was dazzling to behold:
Exodus 34:28-29
Moses remained there on the mountain with the Lord forty days and forty nights. In all that time he ate no bread and drank no water. And the Lord wrote the terms of the covenant—the Ten Commandments—on the stone tablets.
When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the Lord.
The reason for the glow was His spending time in the presence of the Lord, receiving word.
David understood this:
Psalm 119:130
The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
How many are still open to God's word, how many spend time in His presence.
Glory to God that we are not limited to a mountain or one holy sight or location. We can fellowship with the Lord anywhere and meditate on His Word. Glory to God.
For the glory Moses had was a fading one, that which we receive does not fade but is everlasting.
2 Corinthians 3:10-11,13-15
In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way.
So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever!
We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face so the people of Israel would not see the glory, even though it was destined to fade away.
But the people’s minds were hardened, and to this day whenever the old covenant is being read, the same veil covers their minds so they cannot understand the truth. And this veil can be removed only by believing in Christ.
Yes, even today when they read Moses’ writings, their hearts are covered with that veil, and they do not understand.
For just as they could not behold Moses face because of the glow that provoked the veil, so also they could not understand the fulfilment of the law, Christ Jesus.
2 Corinthians 3:16-18
But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Thus everyone of us who has been saved shine the light of God in our hearts, the glory of God seen in Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
So as you continue to study God's word His glory keeps reflecting from our inside radiating God's glory for the whole world to see. We are being made more and more like Him.
Halleluyah.
He calls us blessed.
