HE DID IT FOR US
1 John 1:9
But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
Leviticus 1:3-4
“If the animal you present as a burnt offering is from the herd, it must be a male with no defects. Bring it to the entrance of the Tabernacle so you may be accepted by the lord.
Lay your hand on the animal’s head, and the lord will accept its death in your place to purify you, making you right with him.
Reading through the first three chapters of the book of Leviticus we see that sin is not taken for granted, for every wrong done must be paid for, thus the sacrifice - shedding of blood.
The shedding of this blood was endless, again and again the blood had to be shed for each person and for the whole community.
Did these sacrifices of animals or grain really bring peace between God and man, No, however it stood as a symbol, a reflection of what the heart carried. For while men look at the outward the Lord looks at the heart.
For faith comes from the heart.
There is works and there is the work of faith. Selah.
As we look through the instructions and teaching in the book of Leviticus we appreciate what the Heavenly Father has done for us in the sacrifice of His Son, the physical representation of His person, His very Word. For Christ laid down His life willingly that all men can be set free. This is why He came:
Luke 4:17-19,21
The scroll of Isaiah the prophet was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where this was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see,
that the oppressed will be set free,
and that the time of the Lord's favor has come.”
Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you’ve just heard has been fulfilled this very day!”
Halleluyah.
What a relieve.
Why would anyone reject this offer, while will anyone want to remain in bondage?
John 3:15-16
so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 5:6-9
When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.
Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good.
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
Thank you Lord Jesus for this sacrifice.
He calls us blessed.
Love
