TRAINING PERIOD
Genesis 40:3-4
and he put them in the prison where Joseph was, in the palace of the captain of the guard.
They remained in prison for quite some time, and the captain of the guard assigned them to Joseph, who looked after them.
When we look through scriptures we learn that it is good to go through your training period before occupying your position. For the first man and woman who fell were without experience, they were tested and they failed.
James 1:3-4
For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
For Joseph had the dreams, it had been revealed to him, he never let go of the vision. He held tightly unto it and to the One who revealed it to Him, for he said:
Genesis 39:9b
how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
He had the author of the vision at heart.
Looking at his present condition anyone would advice him to let it go. (Never make future decisions based on your present condition)
"Come on Joseph, you are in a strange land, not just that, you are a slave, that is, you are someone's property. Added to this, see you are now in prison, come on, let it go, the Lord has abandoned you".
How many would have given up at this time, not Joseph. He still maintained his good works.
Genesis 40:6-8
When Joseph saw them the next morning, he noticed that they both looked upset.
“Why do you look so worried today?” he asked them.
And they replied, “We both had dreams last night, but no one can tell us what they mean.”“Interpreting dreams is God’s business,” Joseph replied. “Go ahead and tell me your dreams.”
Many have allowed themselves to be frustrated out of ministry, calling, career, education etc, all because they could not endure the training period. Why the rush, where exactly are we rushing to?
This is why James taught that Patience must do its work, without patience the Heavenly Father cannot work through us, for an evidence of faith is patience!
James 1:3
Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
Everyone who will finish well must go through the training period just as Joseph did. The Lord knew that he would lead the greatest nation of that time, where possibly could you find the most difficult to lead - in the prison. For there you will find thieves, murders, rebels and all sorts. Joseph was being prepared.
Romans 5:3-5
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.
And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Are you being trained, have you been trained? Remember you were/have been trained for a greater purpose. All the Lord's intentions are for your good. Stay faithful.
BE TRAINABLE THEN USE YOUR TRAINING!
He calls us blessed.
