LIVING FOR THE FUTURE

Genesis 49:1
And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you [that] which shall befall you in the last days.

When we look at Jacob's proclamation on his children we are cautioned to live our lives carefully, for it is not just about us, we have a legacy to uphold and a generation to cater for. Our deeds today surely will reflect on our future. Reuben though the first born, had a bad testimony so did his next two brothers, who easily shed blood:

Genesis 49:2-7
“Come and listen, you sons of Jacob; listen to Israel, your father.
“Reuben, you are my firstborn, my strength, the child of my vigorous youth. You are first in rank and first in power.
But you are as unruly as a flood, and you will be first no longer.
For you went to bed with my wife; you defiled my marriage couch.
“Simeon and Levi are two of a kind; their weapons are instruments of violence.
May I never join in their meetings; may I never be a party to their plans.
For in their anger they murdered men, and they crippled oxen just for sport.
A curse on their anger, for it is fierce; a curse on their wrath, for it is cruel.
I will scatter them among the descendants of Jacob; I will disperse them throughout Israel.

WHAT IS YOUR TESTIMONY?

Do we live only for the passing day? NO! For we must understand that we have much to account for.

It is never foolishness to live well. For the hasty decisions and that eazy give away to fleshy desire could stamp disgust that will not easily go away.

Look at Joseph's endurance, the Lord saw it, He made sure that even before he was glorified, in that little status he was, the Heavenly Father made Joseph's light to shine.

He does it to all of us, though most times our mind is so much focused on that big picture that we forget his daily mercies.

Judah had a better testimony and that is why up till today, when Judah is mentioned victory is associated with him.

What are you investing, what are you leaving behind for your children (biological or otherwise)?

 1 Corinthians 3:11-14
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ.
Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.
But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.
If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.

The love of the Heavenly Father is the best foundation to build on, Joseph did and thus he built well. The Father is revealed and He is revealed through His Word, Jesus the Christ.

The Lord will help us. We will build a good legacy. The Lord will be pleased with us.

He calls us blessed.
