GUARD YOUR HEART

Genesis 37:23-25a
So when Joseph arrived, his brothers ripped off the beautiful robe he was wearing.
Then they grabbed him and threw him into the cistern. Now the cistern was empty; there was no water in it.
Then, just as they were sitting down to eat,

Do we understand the mind of man? The fallen man became dead, this was how far man fell:

Genesis 6:5
The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.

How? The fall of man brought about pollution, for man became open to the power of choice, where evil was an option, thus when unchecked, evil flowed.

Some may ask what of those who did good, it was not that they did good but that they chose good. Let us look at the garden of eden again:

Genesis 2:16-17
But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—
except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

Definitely the tree had a purpose, however not for food!

Genesis 3:4-7
“You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman.
“God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.”
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.

Thus knowledge not handled well brought destruction. Image a baby having knowledge of sexuality, this is the type of confusion that occurs when man interferes with dimensions, seeking the dead, and trying to interact with other forms of being in the spiritual, many end up going insane.

So we notice something about the children of Jacob, especially from those born from the hand of the handmaids, they were derailed by youthful exuberance, and this, in the bad way, we see how they wiped out all the male in the city of Shechem. In Genesis 35:22, Reuben had intercourse with his father's concubine. All these actions showed children who were not properly brought up. THEIR HEART WERE UNGUARDED.

No wonder Jacob loved Joseph specially, he seemed to be a relieve from all the bad characters displayed by his older ones, we remember that he even reported their wrong actions.

(IT IS NOT ABOUT GATHERING CHILDREN, OR DEPENDANTS, THE QUESTION IS, WILL YOU BRING THEM UP IN THE WAY OF THE LORD?)

Can we account for those the Lord has put under us?

When the bible asks us to guard our hearts, it is for our own good. For while people look at the output of our heart/mind, the Lord sees the intent of our heart. For it is from the thoughts in our heart that our words and actions are birthed!

All those the Heavenly Father chose in the time of old and even in the New Testament had a testimony of having guarded hearts. From Abraham to Joseph to Daniel and even Cornelius.

For Jesus said:

Matthew 5:8
God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God.

He also said:

Matthew 12:35
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

If you read through all the teachings of the Messiah, the Very Word of the God. He concentrated on the heart. The heart was the key.

The battle is fought and won in the heart. Thus the age long counsel:

Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

An unguarded heart will bring about great evil that will make one wonder, so also a guarded heart could bring forth much good, that will also make one wonder.

Instead of thinking about their dreams and future Joseph's brothers were wasting time attacking his dreams. That is the foolishness of an unguarded heart. THEY FIGHT WRONG BATTLES.

They were so carried away with their plot that it was only one of them that thought of the pain it will bring to their father, Jacob.

The foolishness of the heart not given to the Heavenly Father is endless, it will only bring about regret and sorrow.

Acts 15:8
And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as [he did] unto us;

We must release our Heart to the Heavenly Father's Spirit.

Keep your heart guarded, teach your children and those under you to keep their hearts guarded. We save ourselves a lot of trouble. The Lord has helped us.

He calls us blessed.

Love
