GOD'S FAVOUR

Genesis 39:1-4
When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the Ishmaelite traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian officer. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt.
The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.
Potiphar noticed this and realized that the lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.
This pleased Potiphar, so he soon made Joseph his personal attendant. He put him in charge of his entire household and everything he owned.

God's favour exists, yes, He puts one in position of advantage. There are people who enjoy this favour.

Let me quickly say, yet not digressing, that one may ask about those who are yet to know the Lord and it seems everything just keeps working out for them. We must remember that everyone born into the world has default talents and gifts, just like a pre-installed software. No man is created empty, none. Some are born into wealthy homes some into humble homes. Now the way this gifts are used would determine how their future would be, for some are born into wealthy homes and later on become empty while some born into humble homes and later on become wealthy. (Intercession also plays a role - "not for this study") Man was created to prosper as a default!

However our interest here is on those who finish well, for Christ in His parable talked about "a rich fool".

*Back to Joseph

In our earlier study we see that Joseph was of good character, he was given a vision at his young age, the bible recorded 17 years. We learn from him that we should KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE.

Did he encounter troubles and persecutions? YES.

Did that remove or reduce his favour? NO.

Thus the myth that those favoured of the Lord no longer have any challenge, cannot be true.

John 16:33
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

He was sold into slavery, a young lad, with a big dream. That was not enough to break Him. The Lord's favour was with him. He was resold to Pharaoh's captain of the guards Potiphar, yet Joseph's favour flourished so much that Potiphar left the whole of his household in Joseph care. Potiphar prospered because of Joseph.

Genesis 39:5-6
From the day Joseph was put in charge of his master’s household and property, the Lord began to bless Potiphar’s household for Joseph’s sake. All his household affairs ran smoothly, and his crops and livestock flourished.
So Potiphar gave Joseph complete administrative responsibility over everything he owned. With Joseph there, he didn’t worry about a thing—except what kind of food to eat!Joseph was a very handsome and well-built young man,

Now remember every promotion comes with its temptation, it determines whether you will move to the next level or not.

Genesis 39:7-9
and Potiphar’s wife soon began to look at him lustfully. “Come and sleep with me,” she demanded.
But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household.
No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”

We learn from Joseph, he knew who his true master was, the Heavenly Father and not Potiphar. Do you know who you really serve?

Colossians 3:23-24
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Yes, everyone who returns to the Heavenly Father through the only way He provided, His Son Jesus the Christ, enjoys special favour. However, challenges, temptations and tribulations would come, we must not be shaken. All works for our good. We must remain faithful.

Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

We must remember that God's favour brought us where we are, we must remember that we serve Him. He placed us as managers.

1 Corinthians 4:2
Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful.

We must be faithful. The Heavenly Father has released favour to us. We will not disappoint Him.

Ephesians 1:3,6
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.

I see us moving ahead having a greater testimony than Joseph, for we have encountered Him, who is above all.

1 Corinthians 15:57
But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember you have His favour, walk in that confidence.

He calls us blessed.
