WHAT IS YOUR AGREEMENT WITH GOD?
Genesis 15:5-7
Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
Then the Lord told him, “I am the Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land as your possession.”
One issue that has not been clear to some is hearing from the Heavenly Father. Not all are privileged to enjoy such communication as Abraham had. For others such as Joseph and Daniel, they encountered the Father through dreams. However one thing is common to everyone through scriptures, the display of FAITH.
Hebrews 11:1-2
Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.
The way you hear Him speak may not be the determinant of the grace you carry (as our pentecostals say it. . .). The faith that follows what you hear becomes the deciding factor. For Joseph did not hear a direct voice from heaven, but a singular dream or dreams he had as a boy, gave him an assurance of where the Lord was taking him. Thus a faith kept building such that when he was faced with temptation, it was only the Heavenly Father that mattered to him:
Genesis 39:9
[There is] none greater in this house than I; neither hath he kept back any thing from me but thee, because thou [art] his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
People like Daniel did not hear a direct voice.
Daniel 1:8
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Neither did Daniels three friends, yet the boldly walked into the fire!
The all had faith, a proceed of their hearing God's Word!
Romans 10:17
So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Not just the letters but the Spirit of the Word.
Today we have a more closer walk with God, for we who are born again or have the new birth, we have God's Spirit living in us.
Hebrews 1:2
And now in these final days, he has spoken to us through his Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son he created the universe.
John 14:17,26
He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.
So many have run after sorcerers trying to hear what destiny, or do I say what God has in store for them. This cannot be wisdom:
Malachi 3:5
And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in [his] wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [from his right], and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.
That is why I find it strange when so called ministers of God practice enchantment or sorcery in whatever form.
Every believer must discover, understand and continue their covenant with the Heavenly Father, and not be carried away or distracted by others. Thus when we come together, we come as individual children of the Most High, thus we can fellowship.
What is you agreement with the Heavenly Father, are you still on track, are you fulfilling His will, are you still in training, or have not began at all?
We need to reflect, because for us as humans, we are time bound.
What He covenanted with you is greater than anything anyone else says, even your father or spiritual leaders. Jacob did not take Joseph's dream serious, but what was important was that Joseph himself did, that was what mattered.
We have our covenant or agreement with the Heavenly Father, it may have come from a vision, a dream, from scriptures, prophesy or an auction. The faith that drives it, is what matters.
The general agreement for our time (after Christ has resurrected) begins with our salvation. For what does it profit any human to accomplish much here, but have no eternal insurance.
John 3:16, 7:39
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [given]; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
This is the initial agreement for all man kind, it is the qualifying factor for any other agreement. For Christ is the final Word of God to mankind and His Spirit is Christ living in us today.
1 Corinthians 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
We are saved to serve, not to die, or just leave the scene but we fulfil a purpose here on earth.
Our first assignment is in the following verses:
2 Corinthians 5:17-18,20
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
Yes, in all our endeavours, family, denominations, jobs, business, social life and all forms of interactions, we must never forget our primary assignment.
Then each of us have our unique function and purpose both in the body of Christ and in the secular world. Walking in this purpose is what brings satisfaction and eternal satisfaction. We definitely have lives to bless, people to mentor, good deeds to fulfil and exploits to do.
So help us Dear Father, that we will know, understand and fulfil our agreement with you. We will not just be busy around your business but actually be doing your business. May we fulfil our purpose.
2 Corinthians 13:14
May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
Thank you Lord for the covenant we have, all is well with us.
He calls us blessed.
