SALVATION IS PERSONAL
Genesis 28:12-15
As he slept, he dreamed of a stairway that reached from the earth up to heaven. And he saw the angels of God going up and down the stairway.
At the top of the stairway stood the Lord, and He said, “I am the Lord, the God of your grandfather Abraham, and the God of your father, Isaac. The ground you are lying on belongs to you. I am giving it to you and your descendants.
Your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth! They will spread out in all directions—to the west and the east, to the north and the south. And all the families of the earth will be blessed through you and your descendants.
What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”
You see that the promise was given to Abraham, it yet had to be repeated to Isaac, and also had to be repeated to Jacob.
Now to hear the promise is one thing, to believe and obey is another.
Romans 10:8-11,13-14,16-17
In fact, it says,
“The message is very close at hand;
it is on your lips and in your heart.”And that message is the very message about faith that we preach:
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.
As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.”
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?
But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
For the promise had to move along the heritage, they each needed the personal encounter. It was not enough that their father had heard, they had to each experience God themselves. I am of the believe that Terah heard before Abraham did, though this was not recorded, for we see that he began to move. Salvation is a personal experience.
Genesis 11:31
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
This is why there are problems in gatherings, you believe, get saved then become a member of the fold, ELSE, the accord may not be there. For we see gatherings were motives, divine mandate and callings seem to move in diverse directions. For some who lead have because of earthy wealth and strive for relevance, become confused.
Acts 4:32
And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any [of them] that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
This is why Paul wrote:
Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Transformed people come together with power released and nothing would be impossible for them.
HAVE YOU HAD THE PERSONAL ENCOUNTER?
We see a revival for God's children, weakened structures will be rebuilt, promises forgotten would be refreshed, power will be released and God's Word will grow and prevail. For the people will be willing:
Psalm 110:3
Thy people [shall be] willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth.
For the war is not over, hearts of men must return to God. Salvation is still available to all that live and those who are to come. We must all play our part.
So be it Dear Lord.
He calls us blessed.
