NEXT LEVEL

Genesis 17:5
Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

I have often wondered the difference between the name Abram and Abraham. Abram refers to "noble father", while Abraham refered to "father of many nations". He was renamed because it was time for him to enter his next level, the father of many nations, the one through whom many would be blessed. Up till today we talk of the Abrahamic blessings.

This study is not about names but about entering into a new level. When we were introduced to Christ we hear names like, christian, born again, convert, disciple etc. The name is not the real deal but the transformation, in spirit, mind and thus character. Something happens, there is a change a movement to a new level. Salvation is the moat significant change for any human, for it is at salvation that man gets the right to be called the child of God, thus can claim more than the Abrahamic blessings.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name:

Many yet bear names today such as president, supreme leader, governor, priest, chairman, pope, prophet, general overseer, apostle, reverend, father, whatever it is yet they are not recognized with those titles in the presence of the Heavenly Father. What a waste. For by their fruits you will know them. Selah

Thus the new name is to bring you to the next level, not just a title but a power that comes from your faith in what is promised, a determination because you believe, which will make you live up to that next level.

Romans 2:28-29
For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision.
No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by the Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.

King Saul was an example of one who had a good testimony, however he was not able to manage the next level, it was not just the change of name from Saul to King Saul. He was also to change from reporting to men to reporting to God.

There is always a requirement for the next level, yes an expectation. It is wisdom to prepare, for from scriptures we see that those who went through the preparation stages did not fail when they were eventually lifted to the next level. We endure to enjoy!

Are you ready for the next level?

For most times we pray or ask for things we are not ready to handle!

We cannot afford to be carried away with the glory of the next level, we must remember that there is work to be done, character to be displayed and a good testimony to prove.

Luke 12:48b
For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

Our next level is here, we would be ready for it. We will not fail.

We are not all on the same level. Our next level varies with our assignments, purpose and call in life. Parenting is a level, so is leadership, even retirement is a next level, there is an expectation, there is mentoring to be done.

(It is wisdom to awake from slumber, no matter how many years you think you have wasted, as long as the Lord has kept you alive, you can wake up today and walk into your next level. You can begin to make impact.)

Dear Father make us ready for our next level, we will be counted among those who finished well. Glory to your name.

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
