FRIEND OF GOD
Genesis 18:17
And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
Abraham was referred to as "a friend of God", it is an exalted position. Not many people experienced such closeness to God. There is a difference between being a family member compared to being a staff in the office.
Let me explain, the staff in the office gets information from you because they have a job to do, being disseminators of that information, or given an assignment of which that information is needed to carry out the task. I could place the prophets of old in this category.
However, when it comes to family or very close friend, they get privy information on the basis of relationship. This is the category Abraham was:
Psalm 25:14
The secret of the LORD [is] with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
Was there any requirements, or features the Heavenly Father saw that made Him enjoy this privilege? Yes!
Genesis 18:19
For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
He was a man of faith, faith in the Heavenly Father. Not a mere spoken (audio) faith, but a living faith.
James 2:22-24
You see, his faith and his actions worked together. His actions made his faith complete.
And so it happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.
So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone.
How trustworthy are we? Some of us get carried away once the blessings and upliftment comes, forgetting our assignment, duties and roles.
Good friends stay faithful.
Are you a friend of God?
Some would say, I am more than that, I am a child of God.
Are you an obedient child?
Matthew 21:28-31
“But what do you think about this? A man with two sons told the older boy, ‘Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.’
The son answered, ‘No, I won’t go,’ but later he changed his mind and went anyway.
Then the father told the other son, ‘You go,’ and he said, ‘Yes, sir, I will.’ But he didn’t go.
“Which of the two obeyed his father?”They replied, “The first.”Then Jesus explained his meaning: “I tell you the truth, corrupt tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the Kingdom of God before you do.
It is not about the title you carry: YOU MUST PROVE YOURSELF!!!
1 Corinthians 3:13
Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
Dear Father grant us the grace to draw closer and closer to You each day as we walk in obedience. May our sonship be in friendship. Glory to your Holy Name.
He calls us blessed.
