ARE YOU ALERT?

Genesis 18:1-2
The Lord appeared again to Abraham near the oak grove belonging to Mamre. One day Abraham was sitting at the entrance to his tent during the hottest part of the day.
He looked up and noticed three men standing nearby. When he saw them, he ran to meet them and welcomed them, bowing low to the ground.

Some of us feel that the Lord owes us. Why should God do this or that, why should the Lord not have told me about this or that. Are we really attentive?

David sang this song after the Lord delivered him from Saul:

2 Samuel 22:28
You rescue the humble, but your eyes watch the proud and humiliate them.

Psalms 18:27
You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud.

We understand that it is a privilege that we exist and that the one who holds all things together is the Heavenly Father Himself. It is not that we are insignificant, for He created us to have dominion over other mundane things, however He has power over us.

So wise people seek Him, they humble themselves such that they do not get carried away with pride like the enemy did and thus lost everything. Thus humility makes them focus, they stay attentive, thus they do not miss experiences with the Father.

Colossians 4:2
Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

This is submission to God: praying and watching:

Abraham was a man of prayer and he was also watching, thus he saw when the Lord's messengers arrived his area and was able to welcome them in and also cater for them.

Many a time we miss what the Lord is saying because we are too carried away with things. We feel we have arrived or that we have become so special because of the spiritual exploits the Lord has done through us (if we have any), others could be carried away by physical experiences! That is not the way, for those who went before us even Paul did not let his guard down:

Philippians 3:13-15
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead,
I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Let all who are spiritually mature agree on these things. If you disagree on some point, I believe God will make it plain to you.

Another thing that gave Abraham this privilege was his good character. He was accommodating and of good gesture towards strangers.

Philippians 4:8
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Yes we presently live in an evil world, where many who you know stand as threats, moreso those who are strangers. We hear of evil being perpetrated by so called strangers whom a gesture of love was shown to. However this is why we must be led by God's Spirit to be able to discern. Help us good Lord.

We learn from Abraham to be alert. Our godly character must never be wanting.

Love must not be wanting. It is God's nature.

Hebrews 13:1-2
Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters.
Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

2Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Philippians 1:9-11
I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.
For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return.
May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

We must remain alert. We must show forth the good character. We will not miss our encounters with the Father. The Lord will help us.

He calls us blessed.

Love
@the watcher.
