THE DESTRUCTION
Genesis 6:5
And GOD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every imagination of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.
Genesis 6:5-7(NLT)
The Lord observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and He saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil.
So the Lord was sorry He had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke His heart.
And the Lord said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing—all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.”
How disappointing it is to see a software you have written doing exactly the opposite of what you created it for. Imagine building a software to take care of your company's data, instead it gets corrupted and begin to act as a virus deleting and corrupting the company's files instead.
Sometimes when I listen to some who argue about the Heavenly Father's role in the error of man, I wonder if they understand who they are? For man is different from animals in the sea, air or creeping animals in the land. We were created as a replica of God on earth, to take dominion.
The power of God in us empowers us to be able to take decisions, thus we are automatically accountable.
Yes we may not be able to explain all things, such as the interaction of heavenly beings with the daughters of men on earth (before and after the flood) leading to the birth of Nephilims (giants and heros of old), however we can understand that man was and is accountable to God.
In the midst of all the planned destruction, something stood out:
Genesis 6:8
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
What made Noah find grace in the eyes of God?
The next verse tells us:
Genesis 6:9
These [are] the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man [and] perfect in his generations, [and] Noah walked with God.
The world entices you with riches, fame and power, then your appetite yearns for earthly satisfaction, you want to be relevant, you want to belong, to be reckoned with. It is unlikely that you will be able to walk with God.
See what Paul said:
Philippians 3:8
Yea doubtless, and I count all things [but] loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them [but] dung, that I may win Christ,
For truly Christ said that you have to loose it to gain it.
Matthew 16:25
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
The final destruction is yet to come, will we be in the ark, or out of it? It doesn't matter whether we are still here or gone.
That day will be like the days of Noah and like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, that is what Jesus said:
Luke 17:26-30
“When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day.
In those days, the people enjoyed banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered his boat and the flood came and destroyed them all.
“And the world will be as it was in the days of Lot. People went about their daily business—eating and drinking, buying and selling, farming and building—
until the morning Lot left Sodom. Then fire and burning sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
Yes, it will be ‘business as usual’ right up to the day when the Son of Man is revealed.
We who have believed have no fear of the destruction for we have entered the ark. Or are you still outside?
Psalms 91:1
Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
We will not be destroyed.
Jude 1:24-25
Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.
All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.
Thank you Heavenly Father.
He calls us blessed.
