CHOOSE WISELY
Genesis 2:9
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
One nature of God in man, is the ability of choice, and as it is should be, it takes the power of decision to make a man accountable.
For at the beginning, God positioned man, then instructed him:
Genesis 2:15-17
The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it.
But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden—except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”
Thus one lie of the enemy is to make man believe that the wrong choice is the right one. No one is excused of this, for even when the Son of God came down to earth, he made the same attempt.
John 8:44c
When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Knowing this we walk carefully like the wise and not the foolish, for some have taken the liberty we have in Christ as licence to live anyhow and do strange things, we must remember:
Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Galatians 5:13
For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
1 Peter 2:16
As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Our choices matter, of course, there are things we really cannot decide, however those we can, let us choose wisely.
Romans 6:16
Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Merciful Father, grant us the grace to make the right choices and take the right steps as we go on this year and beyond. You name be glorified, dear Father.
He calls us blessed.
