TAKING STOCK
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
When we come close to the end of the year, there are two things we should do
* take stock, and
* plan for the coming year.
In taking stock we look at the upside and low side, however no matter the proportion we must be reminded that we made it through. For the low sides, teach us, for there is really no failure for the believer:
James 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
We must always remember:
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose.
This is an eternal stand point. A fixed equation or an established proof.
Knowing this we give glory to the one who gives us this grace.
The second is the plan for the coming year.
First, we must understand that we use an earthy calendar to which God is not limited to. Thus we must be cautious when we tread. So what we sometimes call delay or disappointments may not be so with the Heavenly Father. This is why we ask for direction.
We hear from Him and we write down.
While ordinary people eat, drink and celebrate, we go beyond that to sharpen our ears to hear the direction for the coming year.
Psalm 37:23
The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Yes, and in all we must never forget that we also plan to grow in the knowledge of Him.
2 Peter 3:18
But grow in grace, and [in] the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and for ever. Amen.
We will finish well and then begin better.
Glory to the Heavenly Father.
He calls us blessed.
Love
