SELECT YOUR CIRCLE WISELY

Nehemiah 7:2
That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he [was] a faithful man, and feared God above many.

Note that it was not because he was his brother that he put him in charge. For he knew his character because he was his brother, thus he stated the reason for appointing him:

* faithfulness and the fear of God

This is what Paul instructed Timothy and Titus in selecting leaders for the church:

1 Timothy 3:2-7
So an elder must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self-control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach.
He must not be a heavy drinker or be violent. He must be gentle, not quarrelsome, and not love money.
He must manage his own family well, having children who respect and obey him.
For if a man cannot manage his own household, how can he take care of God’s church?
An elder must not be a new believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall.
Also, people outside the church must speak well of him so that he will not be disgraced and fall into the devil’s trap.

Nehemiah knew how to hear from God, thus, every leader must know, for it gives us the grace to see beyond our eyes, to see beyond the mask that men wear. To see the inner character of people. For God sees beyond the physical.

Nehemiah 7:5
And my God put into mine heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein,

Dear Father open our ears and mind to hear and understand what you say to us.

As we enter the new year, may the Heavenly Father grant us grace to associate with the right people and cut off those that are not to be with us, for we must make the most use of our opportunities, we must fulfil purpose.

Glory to God.

He calls us blessed.

Love
