LIVE AS ONE WHO WILL GIVE ACCOUNT
Nehemiah 5:14-17
For the entire twelve years that I was governor of Judah—from the twentieth year to the thirty-second year of the reign of King Artaxerxes—neither I nor my officials drew on our official food allowance.
The former governors, in contrast, had laid heavy burdens on the people, demanding a daily ration of food and wine, besides forty pieces of silver. Even their assistants took advantage of the people. But because I feared God, I did not act that way.
I also devoted myself to working on the wall and refused to acquire any land. And I required all my servants to spend time working on the wall.
I asked for nothing, even though I regularly fed 150 Jewish officials at my table, besides all the visitors from other lands!
When did all the extortion, corruptions and theft from common wealth originate? It began from our homes, schools and small environments. People living beyond their means, claiming wealth they cannot account for. When wealth is allowed to be spent and the acclaimed cannot give proper account of its origin.
We who have believed cannot be the same, we cannot live in the same farce and deceit the world lives in.
Why would these things be, it is because there is no more love. People only claim God with their mouth but not their heart!
Listen to Nehemiah:
Nehemiah 5:18
Now [that] which was prepared [for me] daily [was] one ox [and] six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days store of all sorts of wine: yet for all this required not I the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
What is the wisdom in that you as a leader have great riches to your name and there are many under you who are hungry, can this be godly? It makes no sense. Selah!
Believers, where is the love? Most of us are fighting to acquire, to show off, to be superior. Who gave us this task?
Titus 3:8
[This is] a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
For we cannot neglect justice and love and believe we can pay back by paying tithes or sowing seeds. We should do all. For there are more important things.
Luke 11:42
“What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.
Thus we must not put others in sorrow and feel we can at the same time please God. For our love of God is evident in our love for the brethren.
1 John 4:20-21
If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see?
And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers.
We must live as those who will give account.
The truth is that many have forgotten that:
1 Timothy 6:7
For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out.
For when we leave this world we really do not have a say on what happens to all we have acquired. Thus why do I trade my soul for it.
Mark 8:36-37
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Remember that money only profits you eternally if it is invested in blessing the lives of those in need.
1 Timothy 6:17-19
Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
The Lord grant us grace to live like those who will surely give account. The Lord will be pleased with our account. Amen.
He calls us blessed.
